As youths grow older, volunteerism becomes less of a priority in their lives as different agendas in life takes priority, such as career, family etc. Time and money are the main factors in which youth stray away from volunteerism. They are too preoccupied with their careers that they don’t have time to spare and volunteerism does not provide any materialistic benefits.
However, volunteering is not the only means of creating social-impact. There are organisations that creates social-impact as part of their mission and values. Youths with the passion about a cause or aren’t sure about what they want as a career can work towards it with these organisations and have a stable, fulfilling career with them as well.
The Social Apprenticeship Programme was started to serve as platform to connect organisations and youths. Youths will work with organisations of their preference for 6 months to, hopefully, grow their passion into a career. Organisations can also utilize this platform as means to network with other organisations to expand or collaborate.
The need to create a social-impact to make the world a better place will always be present and having more people on-board will never be too many. If you are passionate about a cause or are willing to try something new, the Social Apprenticeship Programme is for you!
