Two years ago, Kopi Break | Navigating Modern Workplace Challenges started as a small community sharing honest thoughts about work, workplace issues, and how we get through them.

Since then, this community has become something much bigger than I ever imagined. And I would like to thank each and every one of you who has read, shared, commented, messaged, and supported this journey.

I’m truly grateful to all of you. And I also want to thank Wiley for giving Kopi Break this opportunity.

For this book, I want to include the real workplace issues we talk about here, along with honest perspectives and practical ways to deal with them. And I’ll need your help with this too. I’ll be checking in with you along the way about the real issues you’re facing at work, because this book should reflect what people are actually going through.

I’ll keep sharing more about the book on Instagram stories and our private community, so keep a lookout there.

Thank you, everyone. 🤎

Someone gives you feedback on your work, and it feels like they are questioning your entire ability.

The gap between what was actually said and what you felt is where most of the pain lives. Not all feedback is an attack, but your brain often makes it about you instead of the task.

One question helps: Did they criticise what I did, or who I am. That distinction changes everything.

If the feedback is specific and fair, it might sting but it is still useful. If it is vague and personal, that is not feedback anymore.

Learning to hear the difference between correction and rejection is one of the most important skills you can build at work.

Not every smile at work comes from a genuine place. Some people collect small moments and deliver them upstairs, quietly building a narrative you never agreed to.

When someone asks who you are, most people answer with their job title, as if that is all there is.

Your worth was never attached to your performance review, your last promotion, or how productive you were this quarter. A bad day at work does not make you a bad person. A missed opportunity does not make you a failure.

You existed before this job. You will exist after it. The role is temporary, but you are not.

When work defines your worth, losing it starts to feel like losing yourself. That is too much power to give to something that was never meant to hold all of you.

You are more than your output. You are whole exactly as you are.

The hardest part of work is not the tasks. It's the people.

It's the colleague who interrupts mid-sentence. The boss who belittles instead of guiding. The moods that shift the whole room.

Work itself doesn't always burn you out. It's the daily weight of difficult people that does. And that's why boundaries at work matter more than ever.
