On Saturday evening 1st May 2026, TASOS President Soh KM, VP Dr Raymond Quek along with Committee member Albert Lim and TASOS members Norman Leong, Albert Tan, Tan Bee Ping, Daniel Foo and others gathered at Seletar Reservoir to attempt to photograph Comet C2025 R3 Panstarrs.. we arrived at about 6.00pm but the sky was way too cloudy as expected.. In essence, we knew chances were slim even before we went but as President Soh says.. the chances of going and successfully catching the Comet is under 5% but if we not even go and try the chances is zero %. We agree.. photos of this activity posted here to share and hope you all like it 👍🙏🏻

On Sunday 25th April 2026, I also shared one of my shot of Comet Hale Boop from 1997 shot with Nikon F3 using Kodak P1600 slide film on the mountain of Mauna Loa in Hawaii at dawn just before Sunrise .. I remembered it was extremely cold night at -10 deg C .. remember these were the days before CCD guiders etc.. posting to share 🙏🏻

On 20th Apr 2026, TASOS President announced “After an unsuccessful attempt yesterday morning (Sun 19th Apr 2026)…we shall wait til 1st May after the comet swing round the Sun....but the tail may not be so spectacular. “
Note that a TASOS group did gather on Saturday evening 1st May 2026 at Seletar Reservoir to attempt to catch the comet.. see aeparatey post below to know the outcome..
