All good times will end...

It is with great pain and sadness for me to announce the closure of my "workshop" that was located along my corridor.

For a good 7 years, I have the pleasure to craft and spend time with my kids at my corridor, building scale models and chit chatting.

It is in this little space that I grew as a craftsman and also made many new friends here on Facebook.

Very often, it is also my own safe space where I will just retreat into a world of my own as I reflect and contemplate life...

My youngest two are slowly entering their teens years. The need for close intimate hand holdings are not as intensely needed as compared to when they are still in early primary school. My son has also ventured into photography and weaned off scale modeling.

In this new year, it also marks a new season of my life, a time where I need to anchor down and grow professionally.

It is with great struggle, that I decide to discontinue E Studio Singapore and focus on my new venture, Aquatic Eden and also to slowly resume my studies.

Thank you everyone for your kind encouragement and support for the last 7 years, where you guys allowed me to share my mediocre work with all.

Dear all, I am starting a garage sale to raise funds for my friends across the causeways whose entire village has been badly hit by the recent episode of flood in JB.

I intend to clear my stash of unbuild scale models and some of the tools I have.

Tools include 3 air compressors, boxes of surgical blades amongst other stuff, paints too.

100% of the proceeds from this sale will go towards the crisis relief in my friend's village.

Do watch this space and help to spread the word once I have the details out.

Travelled to KL over the weekend and what I saw along the way inspired me to build this..

This build seeks to resemble the drains of Kuala Lumpur and it took me 2 days to put together.

2 days because I need to let the silicone cure properly.

Come see it in person at halls 401/2, Suntec City this weekend.

I am launching my social enterprise " Aquatic Eden".

Sharing a quick build - 4 hours of scratch building fun.

Using the Gecko bullock cart set as a template, I scratch built this piece entirely out of balsa.

I used the kit wheels as it was quite nicely done.

What was interesting is this - this project may be from 1 Gecko set. But I realised that I can actually create 2 vignettes out of one humble kit.

First vignette showcasing only the cart, I titled it "Abandoned...".

Second vignette, I titled it "Narrow path...". This will utilise the whole kit with cows, farmers and rice sacks.

I believe my pictures will be able to tell a better story.

Work on the "Bumble Bee" theme gundam has started.

For this project, I chose a SAZABI (kit number 6631W) by Daban.

I started assembling on Tuesday night and in 3 hours, I managed to put the head with the torso together.

On Wednesday, from 1300 to 2359, I assembled the hands, waist and side skirts.

Today, from 1500 to 1815 hours, I assembled the two legs, the shield and the back pack.

At 1830 hours today, I brought it downstairs for a photo shoot.

I am not using the manipulator provided by the kits because I know how painful it can be to assemble them... Waiting for a claw replacement set to arrive before I strip this guy down for painting and detailing...

This is how gundam modeling is different from other genre... Tedious but worth it once it is completed.

Review of this kit is that it fits well, seam lines are a plenty but they can be removed easily with a sanding stick/sponge.

Good to be able to build.

Planning for the last project of 2024.

MG SAZABI 6631.

I wanted something simple but eye catching.

Don't intend to do too many extra panel lines.

What I hope to do is to play with colours and maybe just 6 to 8 panel lines where it is logical.

Presented in this post as samples I gathered from Pinterest.

I have 3 rough ideas in my mind.

1) Bumble Bee theme - main colour will be yellow with gold inner frame. Decals - silver decals

2) Nightingale theme - white outer frame with metallic red and metallic blue inner frame. Decals - yellow decals

3) Ghost theme - Matt black outer frame with gun metal inner frame. Decals - gold decals.

Let me know your thoughts.

This kit took me only 20 minutes to put together - yes 20 minutes!

The Airfix quick build series makes plastic modeling so fun that it is suitable for kids as young as six!!

Simple as it is, this kit leaves plenty of room for our creativity. Will be building a fleet of 6 featuring the livery of a company which I am closely associated with.

Why 6?

Because of the 6 beautiful souls that I am intimately associated with.

God is good!

Happy to be able to build again after a busy 2024!
