Proud to introduce the Singapore National Olympic Council Athletes’ Commission for 2026–2029 🇸🇬

Athletes are at the heart of the Olympic Movement, and this commission will champion the voices of Team Singapore athletes while strengthening athlete representation within the sporting community.

A big thank you to the athletes who served in the 2022-2025 term for their dedication and the impact they’ve made along the way.

We look forward to the journey ahead and to building an even stronger voice for athletes in Singapore. 💪🏼

🇸🇬✨ That’s a wrap at the Closing Ceremony of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.

As the curtain falls, Team Singapore stands proud of our trailblazer, Faiz Basha who raced with courage and composure on the world stage, and flew the Singapore flag high every step of the way. ❄️💪

🇸🇬 Steady under pressure. Strong at the finish.

At the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, Faiz Basha showed what true composure on the world stage looks like.

Starting 87th in a field of 96 in the men’s slalom - amid heavy snowfall, low visibility, and 45 DNFs before him - the odds were anything but favourable. Even alpine skiing giants and World Cup winners failed to complete their first runs.

But Faiz held his nerve.

Executing a smart, calculated race plan, he completed both runs to finish 35th overall in his Olympic debut. As he crossed the line, he raised his arm and shouted, “Majulah!” 🇸🇬

From a giant slalom ski-out earlier in the Games to a composed slalom finish, Singapore’s first Olympic snow sports athlete leaves with more than just a result - he leaves with experience, belief, and a strong foundation for what’s next.

The journey continues. 💪❄️

🇸🇬 Unbowed. Unafraid. Unfinished business.

At the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, Singapore’s trailblazer Faiz Basha raced with heart.

Attacking the giant slalom at the Stelvio Ski Centre, an unexpected ski binding release led to a fall 40 gates in - DNF. But Faiz has no regrets: “I would rather DNF skiing in search of speed than finish conservatively, especially at an event like this.”

Before the fall, he posted strong sector times (23.60s, 44.44s) on the demanding 1448m course. On a day when even the world’s best struggled, he chose to attack.

Now, the focus shifts to slalom, his stronger discipline. “I’m more experienced in slalom… But for me, I’m excited.”

The fighting spirit is far from fallen. 💪🎿

✨ From learning to ski with his mum to walking out as Singapore’s flagbearer at Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games 🇸🇬 👏🏼

Team Singapore's Faiz Basha made history as the first Singaporean to qualify for a snow event at the Olympic Winter Games ❄️, marching out proudly with the national flag at last night’s Opening Ceremony.

“I was thinking about my mum in the crowd, remembering the first time she taught me to ski, and the journey we shared figuring out the sport together.

The best part at the Opening Ceremony was after the flagbearer walk, we were into a waiting area where I saw a few of my childhood teammates and competitors from other countries. We are not strangers, we compete often but I remembered how many more of us there used to be, how the group grew smaller and smaller with every level we rose, until now it’s just a handful of us.

It’s a truly a special feeling to share a lifetime journey with not just family but the people you are out to beat! We came together for a group hug, not really believing we all made it. It was bittersweet unity with a tinge of loneliness but I’m glad I’m able to feel these emotions.” 🥰

Faiz will compete in the Men’s Giant Slalom (14 February) and Slalom (16 February) at Stelvio Ski Centre. ⛷️
