As the Tiger year makes way for the Lunar Year of the Rabbit on Sunday 22 Jan, I thought I'd share some interesting bits of trivia about the Rabbit year, which according to astrologers promises to be a calmer and more peaceful year. In the Chinese culture, the Rabbit is also known to be the luckiest of the 12 zodiac animals. Interestingly, the Rabbit is not among the 12 zodiac animals in the Vietnamese zodiac, being replaced by a Cat instead. In case you are not aware, the Vietnamese and Koreans also celebrate the Lunar New Year, known as Tet and Seollal respectively.

So on that note, on behalf of the SRA Executive Committee, I'd like to extend our best wishes to all our members, partners, friends and associates for a Peaceful and Lucky Lunar Year of the Rabbit! 新年快乐, 万事如意!

Plenary session 2 takes centrestage on Day 3 (2 Nov) of the putting the spotlight on ‘The Transition to Net Zero – Commitment or Lip Service’. Co-moderated by Mr Conor Donaldson, CEO of Global Asia Insurance Partnership (GAIP) and Ms Karen Tan, Head Life & Health Products Asia at Swiss Re, featuring a diverse panel comprising Mr Henrik Naujoks, Partner & Head of Financial Services Practice at Bain & Company; Mr Stephen Taylor, Head of Credit Solutions, Asia at Aon; and Ms Audrey Walls, Head of Distribution, Customers and Growth at Zurich Resilience Solutions, Asia, the session will examine whether the pronouncements and pledges made by the (re)insurance industry are sufficiently bold and meaningful to meet the 2050 Net Zero targets. Are the industry players in emerging Asia equipped to contribute meaningfully in the race to zero? What are the challenges or impediments to more aggressive action, especially with the increasing frequency of severe climate-related disasters – windstorms, floods, wildfires, drought, extreme temperatures - occurring the world over? Make time to join the discussion on 2 Nov commencing 10am SGT.

"Who's on board? Bridging the Gender Equity Gap in (Re)insurance"

The (Re)insurance industry is in the business of identifying, pricing, and taking on risks sustainably. To do so, our industry requires wide-ranging perspectives and knowledge. Bridging the gender equality gap, amongst other types of diversity, ensures we bring more voices to the table and provides for well-rounded decisions in our industry.

If gender equality is the end goal, GENDER EQUITY will be the means to get there.

During this roundtable session at , we will engage industry leaders on why addressing the gender equity gap in (Re)insurance is imperative to our industry's future. They will share their opinions, personal experiences and ultimately offer several suggestions of how our industry can take meaningful steps towards achieving gender equality.

HEAR from the panelists - Ms Emiko Maki; Ms Shilpa Pankaj; Mr Robert Riha; and Ms Hui Yen Tai.
