There’s something special about spending 10/10 at a play that invites us to reflect on mental wellness.

The Radicalisation of Mrs Mary Lim-Rodrigues by WILD RICE challenges structures we’ve grown so accustomed to, reminding us how important it is to look beyond labels, question our assumptions, and understand the stories behind each person.

As a supporting partner, Majurity is proud to be part of a production that brings mental wellness into our cultural conversations. Through stories that challenge what we think we know, the arts can help us approach difficult subjects with greater openness, curiosity and empathy.

We’re grateful to have spent World Mental Health Day in such a meaningful way, coming together with our donors, grantee partners and fellow peers in the mental wellness sector. It’s a reminder that change begins when we make space to listen, learn and see things from another’s perspective.

Let’s continue these conversations long after the month ends. Here’s to staying curious about the stories we have yet to hear, and to exercising radical empathy in our everyday lives. ❤️

We recently hosted our Majurity Townhall with Grantee Partners, bringing together more than 110 grantee partners from close to 70 organisations. We caught up on Majurity’s journey, where we’re headed, what’s changing in the funding landscape, and what these shifts could mean for the organisations we work alongside.

How can funders listen better? How do we involve communities more meaningfully in deciding what gets funded? And what might partnership look like beyond the grant itself?

Sometimes, what we see is only part of the story.

The Radicalisation of Mrs. Mary Lim-Rodrigues by Wild Rice @ Funan follows school principal Mary and Shan, a brilliant but troubled student. When a devastating event occurs, Mary is confronted with what it means to do the right thing. Can she be good at her job, and also be a good person?

Grappling with mental health, loss and radical empathy, the play invites us to stay curious a little longer — to look beyond the labels and see the person beneath them.

This play is supported by The Majurity Trust through the Musim Mas BlueStar* Fund, which supports efforts that address the mental health needs of children and youth. Catch the play from 24 Sep to 10 Oct.💙

There’s a lot we can learn from bringing different perspectives across the social sector into the same room.

At DO.GOOD.BETTER KOPI CHAT 3.0, co-hosted with Low Tuck Kwong Foundation, we shared Majurity’s research on unseen and emerging needs with practitioners across healthcare, youth development, social services and education.

Their experiences on the ground added new perspectives and depth to the conversation.

Our Leadership Council is a core group of visionary donors who makes our work at Majurity possible — their support of our operating fund enables us to tackle unseen needs on the ground, and go further in what we do.

But their role goes beyond giving. They bring their perspectives, curiosity and conviction to how we think about philanthropy.

At our annual Leadership Council Meeting, we imagined where Majurity could be in 10 years — with some help from LEGO — and heard candidly from social impact leaders through our Human Library segment.

From rethinking financial sustainability to making room for failure and taking a generational view on funding, we left with plenty to reflect on.

That was how one intern described us at the end of our first Majurity Summer Internship Programme.
