An evening at the Risis Official Orchid Ball, beginning with my seven-year-old creative director.

I adapted an embroidered shirt dress and satin skirt from ANS.EIN | Wearable Art for the evening.

Laine took one look at me and said she had to take my photo. She positioned me exactly where she wanted, showed me how to place my hands, did the pose herself… and told me to copy her.

Apparently, the ball began before I even left home. So proud of her. 🤍

I arrived and was greeted by the prettiest Jian Yang in his custom pink butterfly suit, with Niccole Chan-Ravel and Selina Ong looking equally beautiful. But honestly, no one was beating that butterfly suit.

Then the forever-dashing Sylvester Ng | Travel & Culture and KingKang in their Issey Miyake tuxedos. I love, love, love those origami collars.

Then the ballroom filled with some of Singapore’s most amazing Voices of Singapore, led by DARIUS TAN. What a treat.

Anna V. Haotanto ♡ Women’s Health. Investments, Finance & Career, I love the hot-pink suit with the slicked-back hair. Such a gorgeous look! please wear it again.

Leanne Robers, I am still thinking about that glass-beaded shoulder cover. I need one.

And Stephanie Tay, absolutely 🤍 when you arrive with your own photographer. Important evenings need to be properly documented 🥰

elizabeth lee and I ended up discussing how magazines remain relevant today… 1️⃣ hire Gen Zs. 2️⃣ try to keep up with them.

Meeting Evon Chng was so lovely. She has such a great mindset, and I loved hearing about her years growing her social media business. With the ever-beautiful Sherry Ang Lihui, love your gown 😍

Jian Yang painted a real 24-karat-gold Barbie for RISIS but she wasn’t there.. Thankfully, he brought Orchid Barbie instead.

Of course, the real reason I was there was Phuay Li Ying. Her beautiful cart of orchid charms was one of the loveliest highlights of the evening. We personalised them with our initials, then finished them with a spritz of perfume.

Mine says LB, for Laine Blanche 🤍 the little girl who made me feel like a princess before I even left for the ball.

It took me so long to post this because I could not find the words to share this properly in the midst of building .

I am deeply grateful to have been named the Rotary Club of Singapore’s Artisan of the Year 2026.

This award means so much because it recognises not only the art itself, but also the purpose and impact that have grown from it.

My work often begins with reclaimed glass and discarded material. With the belief that something overlooked can be transformed into beauty and hope.

But the truth is, I have not had much time to create art of late, while building a Christmas Village. Here is me acknowledging that I quietly miss being an artist… working with my hands, losing myself in the process, and watching an idea slowly come to life.

Perhaps that is why this recognition feels emotional. It reminds me of a part of myself that I have had to put aside for a while, but do not want to lose.

None of the artworks, and none of the impact, was ever created alone. So many have brought this vision to life. From my family, to relatives (A.Janie, A.Sally, A.Irene), to friends, and volunteers.

Thank you to the Rotary Club of Singapore and the judges for this honour, and to every artist, partner, volunteer, donor, friend and family who has been part of the journey.

Receiving this award has given me even more reason to keep creating with purpose. 🤍

At , every meal felt like its own little experience… floating breakfast in the pool, brunch by the beach with hermit crab hunting, tea on a yacht with nurse sharks below, cookies in the kitchen with the girls, and dinner barefoot on the sand.

I came for the ocean, but the food surprised me too. 🤍

The ocean at was something else altogether.

Jet skiing, scuba diving, dolphins, nurse sharks, and endless water play. But what made it truly unforgettable was how close the marine life felt.

Fish and corals right by the villa ladder, the sea at our doorstep, and the girls experiencing so much of it up close. It was quite unreal. 🤍

Behind the doors of .

Breakfast in the pool, the sweetest welcome for the girls, unwinding in the living room, direct access to the beach and sea, and the most beautiful little goodnight moment.

A few days of island living we will always remember 🤍

Before we even saw the villa, the holiday had already begun. The last boat ride in, we saw the bluest water, the warmest island welcome, coconut water before check-in… and two very excited girls taking it all in.
