Hajj is so much more than a pilgrimage to the sacred city of Makkah; for us, it represents one of life’s deepest and most cherished aspirations.

While the journey is profoundly spiritual, the path to get there is rarely easy. With only 900 pilgrims invited each year, my husband, Mr. Muzakar, and I feel incredibly blessed and humbled to be among the "chosen ones" this year.

Our wait began three years ago when we first received our Letter of Intent from MUIS. Since then, we have dedicated ourselves to preparing our hearts and bodies for this physically demanding journey of faith. We’ve stayed committed to our health through mindful eating and regular exercise—our favorite routine being the symbolic seven laps around Our Tampines Hub to keep our spirits and stamina high.

Attending the East Coast Hajj Send-off ceremony was such a moving experience. Being invited to such a thoughtful event filled us with a deep sense of appreciation and belonging. Connecting with fellow residents who are about to embark on this same sacred path transformed my initial anxiety into a beautiful sense of anticipation and community spirit. We leave for this journey feeling truly supported and united.

Minister Edwin Tong and SMS Tan Kiat How spent the morning meeting fellow hawkers, stall owners and residents at Block 216 Bedok Food Centre & Market.

With regards to the tuberculosis (TB) cases that have surfaced recently, they reassured everyone that Kampung Chai Chee remains a safe place to be, for residents to continue having their meals and resume their regular shopping trips.

Businesses may be impacted temporarily, but more support measures are on the way for affected hawkers and stall owners.

Investigations by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) have shown that most active mobility device fires start when people use non-original parts for charging.

These include things like modified batteries, altered electrical circuits, or simply charging the device irresponsibly. Unfortunately, some of these fires have led to property damage, injuries, and even fatalities.

To stay safe, please ensure your devices are LTA-registered and meet the required quality standards. It's also really important to charge your devices responsibly, and here are some tips to help you do that.
