Last night, the Singapore Xiangqi General Association marked its 92nd Anniversary, the Inauguration Ceremony of its 40th Executive Committee, and the Prize Presentation Ceremony for the 4th “擎天杯” King of Xiangqi Championship.
Ninety-two years represents both a long history and a legacy passed from one generation to the next.
At the Inauguration Ceremony, Dr Kong Jing Wen formally assumed office as the 40th President of the Singapore Xiangqi General Association, together with the new Executive Committee. The 40th Executive Committee will continue to work towards three strategic goals: bringing Singapore Xiangqi onto the international stage, developing the next generation, and elevating the status of Xiangqi in society.
We hope to see more Singapore players competing on the international stage; more young people growing through Xiangqi, not only as stronger players but also as better individuals; and Xiangqi moving beyond community chess tables into schools, professional platforms, and the wider society.
On this special evening, we would also like to thank the many seniors and friends who have supported SIXGA over the years.
Our special thanks go to former President and current Permanent Honorary President 林关浩先生, who, together with generations of predecessors, helped build a strong foundation for Singapore Xiangqi. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to Permanent Honorary Presidents 孙敬亭先生、李锡森先生、云伟龙先生; Honorary Presidents 梁佩玲女士、梁启云先生、吴得顺先生、许龙发先生、罗进辉先生; our excellent Master of Ceremonies and Honorary President 陈峋光先生; and Honorary Adviser 林丽珠律师, for their longstanding support and contributions to SIXGA.
We would also like to thank the Chairman of the Organising Committee for the evening, Mr Jacky See, as well as all members of the 40th Executive Committee, our players, parents, sponsors, partners, and everyone who has continued to support the Singapore Xiangqi General Association.
The evening also featured the Prize Presentation Ceremony for the 4th “擎天杯” King of Xiangqi Championship. Congratulations to Mr Alvin Woo for clinching the champion title 🏆!
Our predecessors paved the way for us. The 40th Executive Committee will continue to extend that path for the next generation.
Through this chessboard, let the world see Singapore Xiangqi.
