The grand finale of the Sustainable Future Food Challenge 2026 (SFFC 2026) was held on 12 August 2026, marking the culmination of a four-month innovation programme jointly organised by the Singapore Food Manufacturers’ Association (SFMA) and Republic Polytechnic (RP).
Designed to address real-world industry and market needs, SFFC 2026 focused on the upcycling of agri-food waste and the adoption of circular economy practices. Students developed innovative food solutions across a range of categories, including plant-based functional foods, upcycled ingredient innovations, and dairy and dairy alternatives.
From April to August 2026, students from the School of Applied Science (SAS) and School of Hospitality (SOH) worked closely with six industry partners to address real-world challenges and explore new possibilities for the future of food. Through this industry-led experience, students gained valuable insights into translating ideas into viable food innovations while developing solutions that are commercially relevant, sustainable, and socially impactful.
The grand finale showcased the students’ creativity, ingenuity, and commitment to shaping a more sustainable and resilient food future. Their innovative concepts and products demonstrated the potential of the next generation of food innovators to drive meaningful change across the food industry.
Congratulations to all participating students and industry partners for their contributions, collaboration, and commitment to advancing food innovation and sustainability.
