Foreverest is a profoundly moving new multidisciplinary work by Singaporean artist Sushma Soma, created in collaboration with UK director Debbie Hannan and US-based composer Aditya Prakash, with mentorship from world-renowned choreographer Akram Khan.

At its heart, Foreverest is a meditation on love, loss, and the quiet strength of human resilience. The work originated from an intensely personal place, the loss of Sushma’s husband, Shri, an avid mountaineer who summited Everest in 2023 but did not return. Out of this grief came music: first through her acclaimed EP The Mountain Has the Last Say, and now through Foreverest, a larger-scale, devised multimedia project that blends song, poetry, storytelling and visual design.

Residencies will take place in Singapore, London, and Mumbai, culminating in the world premiere in May 2026.

By supporting Foreverest, The Foundation continues its mission to champion Singaporean artists whose work pushes creative and emotional boundaries, expanding how the world sees and hears Singapore.

On Friday, 6 February 2026, Foundation for the Arts and Social Enterprise hosted an intimate evening of music in the exclusive residence of Serene and Tony Liok.

The private event featured 12-year-old violin prodigy Mark Chia, who was accompanied by renowned pianist Evgeny Sinaiski. It was attended by over 20 friends and guests, including Former Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat.

The programme showcased Mark’s remarkable musical maturity and sensitivity, featuring excerpts from Vivaldi’s Concerto in G minor, Saint-Saëns’ Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso, Estrellita, and Waxman’s Carmen Fantasy. It was a moving reminder of the power of nurturing young talent.

The Foundation is grateful to Serene for her generosity and hospitality, and the guests for coming together in support of the arts.

We are thankful to Wolfgang Violin Studio and Annie Lee for helping to make the event a success.

Together, let’s continue creating spaces where exceptional young talent can be heard, encouraged, and inspired.

Scroll to listen to Mark.

what a crazy weekend we've all had.

UTOPIA doesn't wait. Reimagine it with us with YAØ and his new single, "Let Go".

Emerging from the restless neighbourhoods of Singapore, YAØ is an endearing name in the industry. The multi-hyphenate (singer-songwriter-producer)’s musical confections sound like a love child of urban soul and contemporary pop, blending his love for RnB, Japanese City Pop and a plethora of other genres that he frequently explores to tell his stories.

Last week, The Foundation had the pleasure of hosting students from the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business These future leaders are diving into an exciting project that explores the soft power of the arts – examining how creativity and culture influence societies, economies and global relations.

To put it simply, ‘soft power’ is a way to gain support from others through non-monetary means, such as a city’s reputation for being culturally interesting. This is something The Foundation firmly believes in, focusing on Iconic Initiatives to reshape the arts, philanthropy and business. The Foundation’s aim is to harness the soft power of the arts to support Singapore’s businesses and communities.

Foundation for The Arts and Social Enterprise is proud to support piano prodigy 12-year-old Mikkel Myer Lee () in his attempt to make history as the youngest musician to perform all of Beethoven’s 32 piano sonatas.

The soldout audience, which included Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat (), Foundation for the Arts & Social Enterprise Founder and Director Michael Tay .sg, prominent businessmen donors, and many families with children who learn the piano, were dazzled by MIkkel’s technical prowess.

In his IG post, DPM Heng described Mikkel’s first instalment of this series as ‘a joy’ and that ‘Mikkel’s artistry and depth truly brought Beethoven’s music to life’.

As Mikkel continues to reach new milestones, The Foundation is committed to supporting his artistic journey. His next major performance will take place in Amsterdam in April 2025, marking another significant chapter in his promising international career.

Mikkel’s remarkable talent and dedication exemplify the spirit of artistic excellence The Foundation strives to nurture.
