Over 100 of girls (ages 8-17), their parents and 19 supporting organizations participated at the 2nd Girls in Aviation Day at Singapore Aviation Academy on 15 Oct 2022, hosted by Women in Aviation International Singapore - WAISG and corporate sponsors.

We were extremely pleased to hear from the girls that they had great fun, enjoyed the half day program also learnt new knowledge about aviation from a wide range of hands-on, educational activities i.e., Aviation and Aerospace Journey, DIY Aeroplane, drones and aeroplane Aerodynamics, flight Simulator and more. A little competition can be very motivating, here are our winners of the day:

- “Marsh-ian Landing” Challenge top 1 winner goes to team “Triple A”
- The favourite booth/activity was voted by the girls, the winning stand goes to “Airbus - Sustainability and Quiz”

The WAI SG’s inaugural Gala Dinner was a tremendous success! We are extremely pleased that through the collective support of companies and individuals a total of SGD $107,000 was raised to drive forward initiatives.

In particular, the funds will be used to implement a groundbreaking industry-wide Mentorship Program and to support WAI SG's communication platform. The Mentorship Program, led by Committee Chair Michelle Low, aims to connect, inspire and develop talented women in aviation in Singapore, who will be the future of the global aerospace industry. Overall 100 mentees and 50 mentors shall benefit from the program.

Guest of Honor, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Transport & Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, SMS Dr Amy Khor said: “As we build the next chapter of Singapore aviation, I hope WAI will continue to champion opportunities for women in our workforce and inspire a new generation of women to bring their creativity, innovation and talents into the sector.”

WAI SG President Marie-Louise Philippe emphasized:” We strongly believe in the power of mentorship: a true mentor can have a positive and life changing impact in one’s life.”
