Every event brings people together. It also leaves a footprint.
When we launched 60 Lights, One Future, and raised $468,500 for vulnerable children from the Singapore Red Cross Young Hearts Programme, we wanted the initiative to create impact not only for the community, but with awareness of its environmental footprint.
Across three phases: the launch and exhibition, the Christmas light-up, and the closing ceremony โ the initiative generated a total footprint of 1,927 kgCOโe.
Emissions were first measured and reduced through planning and operational decisions. Electricity-related emissions were addressed through the retirement of 2 MWh of Singapore solar Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), retired in the TIGR Registry.
Itโs not about perfection but about awareness, accountability, and doing better each time we gather.
With thanks to Aeterni, REDEX, and AUDโNCO for supporting this journey.
