Today, as the rest of the world pauses to celebrate labour and hard work, my heart is full thinking about the "labour of love" that happens right here in our community.

You don't just "work" for a cause; you breathe life into a vision of a more sustainable, compassionate Singapore.

Let’s keep turning surplus into strength.

Happy Labour Day!

Mission No.: 549 | A Symphony of Resilience
Date: 21 April 2026 (Tuesday)
Volunteers: 13 regular volunteers + 5 Bank of America CSR participants
Community Distribution Locations: 10
Total Weight: 4 tonnes (4,000 kg)

At 9:10 am, the air was filled with a mix of anticipation and the rhythmic clatter of trolleys hitting the pavement. We weren't just moving produce; we were moving hope. Among our 18 volunteers were five new faces from Bank of America. Stepping into the fray as "newbies," they dove headfirst into the organized chaos of food rescue, discovering quickly that while the work is physical, the reward is deeply emotional.

The morning began under a bright, cheering sun, but as the sky shifted to a heavy gray, the rain began to pour. Loading heavy pallets in a downpour isn't just a logistical challenge—it’s a test of spirit. Yet, the team didn't falter.

Despite a few unexpected hiccups and the inevitable fatigue, the camaraderie kept us afloat. We watched teammates like Sabrina Lai—now on her third mission—step up with a newfound confidence and grace that truly inspired the veterans among us.

By the time the clouds cleared, we had successfully diverted 4 tonnes of fresh, nutritious food from the bin to the communities, across 10 locations, ensuring that families have fresh meals on their tables tonight.

Mission No.: 548 | The Power of Purpose
Date: 15 April 2026 (Wednesday)
Volunteers: 8 regular volunteers + 14 WeWork CSR participants
Community Distribution Locations: 8
Total Weight: 4 tonnes (4,000 kg)

On a humid Wednesday morning, Mission No. 548 reminded us why we do what we do. Under the sweltering 9:00 AM sun, our core team of 8 volunteers stood shoulder-to-shoulder with 14 passionate participants from the WeWork CSR team. Seeing Dylan Burke return for his second mission felt like a homecoming—a testament to the deep, lasting impact of rescue work.

The WeWork team didn't just "participate"—they led with heart. Whether they were navigating the walkthroughs with our team leaders or sweating through the truck loading, their enthusiasm was infectious. They reminded us that when corporate teams step out of the office and into the trenches of social good, magic happens.

By noon, we had rescued an incredible 4 tonnes of fresh, nutritious produce to 8 different distribution points across the island, this wasn't just "food delivery." It was a restock of dignity.

The Rescue List included:
🍊 4 Full Pallets of Oranges and Mandarins (Vitamin C for hundreds of families)
🍇 1 Pallet of Grapes
🥬 Pallets of Spinach & Lettuce (Fresh greens destined for community fridges)
🧄 Trolleys of Garlic & Capsicum

Food rescue isn't just about waste management; it's about making sure that in a world of abundance, no fridge stays empty.

We often talk about what we want to leave behind for our children—our homes, our savings, our values. But Earth Day reminds us that the most important legacy isn't something we build; it’s something we protect.

Every time we rescue a piece of fruit, every time we restock a community fridge instead of letting good food go to waste, we are saying: 'I care about the ground that fed me.' This Earth isn't just a resource; it’s our only home. Let’s treat her with the same kindness we show our neighbors. Today, let’s promise to take less, give more and leave the soil a little richer than we found it.

When we rescue excess and ugly food, looks don’t matter.

Mission No.: 547 | Sweat, Scraped Knees and Big Hearts
Date: 14 April 2026 (Tuesday)
Volunteers: 18 regular volunteers
Community Distribution Locations: 8
Total Weight: 3.5 tonnes (3,500 kg)

While most of Singapore was just starting their Tuesday morning coffee, 18 of our incredible volunteers were already on the front lines against food waste.

It wasn't an easy shift. The 9:00 AM sun was unforgiving, and the mission tested our limits. We saw Justine push through an injured knee after a fall on uneven slopes and first-timers like Oi Lian and Vivian showing us what true perseverance looks like. Even when the heat became intense, the team refused to slow down.

The result of that labor? 3.5 tonnes of fresh produce—from vibrant dragonfruits to essential greens—diverted from landfills and delivered to 8 different communities across the island. 🥬🍎

Every pallet moved are tens of families fed. Every drop of sweat is a step toward a more sustainable Singapore. Thank you to the team of Mission 547 for proving that when we work together, no mountain of food is too big to move.

Mission No.: 546 | When corporate heart meets community hustle
Date: 10 April 2026 (Friday)
Volunteers: 13 regulars and 5 CSR volunteers from WeWork
Community Distribution Locations: 5
Total Weight: 4.5 tonnes (4,500 kg)

The morning of April 10th was bright, sunny, and pushing 32°C, but the heat didn’t stand a chance against the 18 heroes on the ground today.

We were joined by 13 of our incredible regulars and 5 high-energy CSR volunteers from WeWork. From the 9:00 AM briefing to the final trolley at 1:00 PM, this team moved with one goal: ensuring that 4.5 tonnes of perfectly good food made it to tables, not landfills.

Watching the WeWork team dive in—gloves on, spirits high and working in total sync with our veterans—reminded me why we do this. It’s not just about the numbers; it’s about the bridges we build between the corporate world and our local neighborhoods.

Thank you, WeWork, for bringing your fire to our mission. We can’t wait to have you back!
