Tuesday, 29 September. The morning haze hung heavy over the city and the sun was relentless. It would have been easy to stay home.

But 22 amazing volunteers showed up anyway.

From our 9am safety briefing to our last trolley at 1.40pm, this team pushed through the heat, kept each other hydrated and loaded every last crate with teamwork and big smiles.

A special shoutout to our newbies Linda, Claudia and Joel, who jumped right in like seasoned pros. Welcome to the family!

Here’s what we saved together:

Pallets of apples, oranges, Chinese leek, celery, potatoes, cabbages and tomatoes, plus trolley after trolley of bananas, watermelons, honeydews, capsicums, onions, leafy greens, caixin, kailan, fresh coconuts and mixed fruits and veggies.

All of it was perfectly good food that could have ended up in the bin. Instead, it went to 9 communities across Singapore, onto the tables of families who need it most.

That’s the magic of food rescue: what one place throws away, another family treasures.

When pallets of fresh, crisp produce straight from the cold room are heading for disposal, we know it's time to roll up our sleeves and move fast.

On Friday, September 25th, a team of 19 dedicated volunteers — including an incredible 9-member team from GIC — joined forces to tackle one of our biggest rescues yet!

From the very start, the stream of surplus fruits and vegetables didn't stop. Thanks to vendor donations and our team's swift work, we loaded vehicle after vehicle to absolute capacity—even calling in an extra truck just to handle the volume!

7.5 Tonnes (7,500 kg) of fresh, good food rescued and redistributed! What We Saved From Going to Waste:

20 cartons of Carrots
40 cartons of Radish
20 cartons of Drumstick Vegetables
5 pallets of Capsicum
2 pallets of Cabbage & 1 pallet of Lettuce
2 pallets of Brinjals
1 pallet of Sweet Potatoes
1 trolley of Luffa + a huge variety of fresh fruits & greens!

Our new volunteers were blown away by the incredible quality of the produce we saved today. Seeing perfectly good food find its way to families and communities instead of going to waste is why we do what we do.

A massive, heartfelt shoutout to our long-time supporters at GI for bringing so much energy and muscle to the ground and to every single volunteer who dedicated their morning to making Singapore greener and more resilient.

Throwback over the past Wednesday, Mission No. 603 showed us the true meaning of dedication.

When 17 volunteers gathered at 9:10 AM, they were greeted by a mountain of surplus food — 6 tonnes of produce, pre-arranged from the night before, waiting to be rescued from becoming waste.

Six full distribution locations. 15 pallets loaded with everything from sweet potatoes and capsicums to fresh greens and bananas. We struggled, we pushed through the exhaustion and together, we cleared it all before 12:40 PM.

But this mission was about so much more than numbers:

Mid-afternoon, our dedicated volunteer Daniel Tay suffered a hard fall, injuring his knee and back. Yet the spirit of the team never wavered. Daniel, we are holding you close in our hearts and wishing you a swift recovery — you embody the bravery behind this mission.

Between the heavy lifting, our Volunteer Engagement Leader, Barbara, surprised everyone with a birthday setup to honor our incredible founder Daniel Yap . Together, surrounded by crates of saved produce, we paused to celebrate the heart and vision that started it all.

Six tonnes of food rescued means thousands of plates filled, carbon emissions prevented and a community lifted. But none of it happens without the sweat, tears and unwavering heart of our volunteers.

To our 17 heroes of Mission 603: Thank you. You are proof that hope isn't just a feeling — it’s an action.

Under a humid, partially cloudy sky this past Tuesday, 20 amazing hearts — including our dedicated volunteers and a passionate CSR team from Coda — came together with one shared purpose: ensuring good food reaches the plates that need it most.

From crisp apples, sweet bananas and juicy nectarines to pallets loaded with fresh greens, sweet potatoes and broccolis, every single trolley rolled out meant another neighborhood fridge refilled and another family supported.

Food rescue isn’t just about logistics; it’s about community, care and turning potential waste into nourishment and hope. But these missions are only possible because of people who choose to show up, roll up their sleeves and make a tangible difference.

Imagine looking at 5,000 kilograms of perfectly good, fresh food heading straight for the trash.

5,000 kg. That’s five metric tonnes of crisp apples, sweet oranges, vibrant greens and nourishing veggies — enough to fill hundreds of empty plates — about to be lost forever.

On 16th Sept, for Mission No. 601, 9 dedicated regular volunteers, 3 newbie volunteers and 20 passionate NUS students said: 'Not on our watch'

Starting at 9:00 AM sharp, we hit the ground running. By 10:00 AM, the NUS students jumped into the fray — asking deep questions, learning the reality of food waste and putting their heart and soul into every single lift. We worked so hard, laughed so much and pushed so far that we blew right past our finish line, wrapping up at 1:20 PM.

The result? Pure magic.

From a humble idea to a relentless movement, Fridge Restock Community SG has officially completed its 600th Food Rescue Mission across Singapore on 17 September 2026.

600 isn't just a number. It represents hundreds of early mornings, heavy lifting, sweaty shirts and unshakeable determination and teamwork. It’s thousands and thousands of pallets of greens, trolleys and trolleys of fresh fruit and tonnes and tonnes of excess and ugly good food saved from landfills and brought straight to dining tables.

Despite the heat and recent haze, our volunteers pressed on with incredible positivity, loading transport after transport with smiles on their faces. Because when you know every crate of Caixin, every trolley of fruits and every bag of greens mean sustainability and meals for families and lonely elderly — you don’t back down.

To our tireless volunteers, student groups, logistics partners and supportive local vendors: THIS IS YOUR TRIUMPH.

Every single week, tons of perfectly good food are at risk of being discarded — while countless dinner tables across our island could use a helping hand.

On 11 Sept Friday, 18 selfless volunteers stood up to make a difference. Together, they rescued 3.5 tonnes of fresh produce — from crisp broccoli to sweet longans — and redirected it across 5 distribution locations. That isn't just 3.5 tonnes of food saved from the bin; that’s hundreds of warm, nourishing meals brought to heartland families, seniors and neighbors who need them most.

It takes a village to turn waste into hope. It takes someone to step up for their first day training as an organizer. It takes a team staying behind when a volunteer driver arrives at 12:40 PM, working tirelessly past afternoon heat to ensure not a single leaf of vegetable or fruit goes to waste.

This is the power of community in Singapore. Every basket of spinach sorted, every pallet moved and every hour volunteered breathes life back into our food system and dignity back into our neighborhoods.

While the city woke up to a warm Wednesday morning on 9 Sept 2026, a quiet movement was already underway.

5,500 kilograms of perfectly good food — from vibrant capsicums and fresh broccoli to pallets of greens and sweet longans — were sitting on the edge of becoming waste. But because of people who care, that story was completely rewritten.

For Mission No. 598, 10 dedicated volunteers were joined by 19 proactive students from NUS Social Media Faculty. Stepping straight into action, these students didn't just learn how to tell the story of food rescue — they became a vital part of it. Hands-on, heart-first, side-by-side with our team.

By 1:15 PM, through sweat, teamwork and unstoppable energy:

5.5 tonnes of fresh produce were saved from going to waste.

7 community distribution points were stocked with nutritious food.

Dozens of families were given wholesome meals instead of empty plates.

Food waste isn't a food shortage issue — it’s a distribution and compassion issue. Every pallet moved and every crate loaded is a reminder of what happens when a community chooses to show up for one another.

While most of Singapore was barely sipping their morning coffee this Tuesday, 21 absolute powerhouses were out in the scorching heat—sweating through their shirts, hauling, sorting and loading pallet after heavy pallet.

Why? Because when ton after ton of crisp baby Cai Xin, fragrant coriander and sweet, juicy fruits are on the line, we only see two choices:

❌ Let perfectly good, nutritious food rot in a dumpster.

✅ Or roll up our sleeves, flex our muscles, and feed thousands of families across Singapore.

Mission No. 597 was an absolute masterclass in heart, grit and sweat equity.

From 9:00 AM sharp to 1:00 PM, this crew of volunteers crushed it — moving 4 FULL TONNES of fresh produce onto our rescue fleet and blasting them straight to 9 community distribution points across the island!
