🇰🇷 Korean finance workers have gained important progress after five months of negotiations and sustained collective action.

UNI Global Union affiliate the Korea Finance Industry Union (KFIU) reached a provisional agreement with banking employers on 28 September. It includes a 3 per cent wage increase, shorter bank business hours and measures supporting work-life balance, childcare and fairer workplace assessments.

The agreement followed a general strike involving around 30,000 workers on 4 September and 21 days of overnight protest. KFIU subsequently called off its planned second strike.

UNI Asia & Pacific stands with KFIU and its members as the agreement goes through the union’s internal approval process.

🎬✊ Creative workers in Thailand 🇹🇭 unite for fair contracts!

More than 60 creative workers came together in Bangkok to push for fair contracts, decent pay and stronger rights across Thailand’s creative industries.

Organized by the Creative Workers’ Union of Thailand (CUT) the workshop is helping develop Thailand’s first guidelines for fair contracts — addressing issues from unfair pay and payment terms to working hours and collective bargaining.

🔴 On Duty & Unprotected: New report exposes the challenges faced by G4S security guards in India🇮🇳

Based on 104 interviews conducted between April and August 2026, the report captures the experiences of G4S security guards across nine cities in four Indian states – Maharashtra, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat.

The findings highlight concerns around job security, unpaid overtime and the right to unionise. ✊

✊🌏 1st UNI Apro Care Steering Committee Meeting Concludes in Manila! 🇵🇭✨

Care sector trade union leaders and delegates from across Asia, the Pacific and Oceania concluded two days of strategic discussions in Manila, officially endorsing the UNI Apro Care Regional Action Plan 2026–2027.

With 47 participants from across the region, discussions focused on organizing and collective bargaining, aged and disability care, Community Health Workers, migrant care workers, AI and digitalisation, safe staffing, decent wages and strengthening protections for care workers.

📌 2026–2027 priorities:

💪 Build union power in precarious care sectors
