September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and it feels like the right time to share where LOVE, NILS is today. In December 2025, after eight years as a registered charity, LOVE, NILS closed.

It started as a toy drive in my garage after Nils died. It grew into eight programs across three Singapore hospitals, built by our volunteers, donors, partners, staff and board.

In 2019, LOVE, NILS created and funded the first Paediatric Oncology Care Coordinator role at National University Hospital in Singapore. When we closed, our remaining financial assets were gifted to NUH so that role could continue.

To everyone who was part of LOVE, NILS: thank you. This page will stay open, with occasional updates. To follow what comes next, you can also find me at Lesli Berggren. The charity has closed. The work continues.

Annually on 15 February, we commemorate International Childhood Cancer Day – a global collaborative campaign to raise awareness about childhood cancer, and to express support for children and adolescents with cancer, the survivors and their families.

LOVE, NILS invites to you stand in solidarity with our young cancer fighters and their families. Together, we can make a difference in advancing the fight against childhood cancer.

Today, we officially launch our International Childhood Cancer Day 2025 fundraising campaign that will run until 31 March 2025.

7 February marks the passing anniversary of Nils. Eleven years ago today, we said goodbye to Nils, a wonderful son and the heart of our founder Lesli Berggren. His memory continues to fuel our mission to support children with cancer and their families.

Today, we honor Nils’ enduring legacy and the light he brought into our lives. In commemorating this date, LOVE, NILS pledges to provide support for our children and adolescents battling cancer, as well as their families.

Creating magical moments is at the heart of what we do. We offer exciting event tickets and whimsical themed parties for our beneficiaries recuperating at home, providing uplifting experiences that allow children and their families to escape the challenges of illness, even if only for a little while.

We also arrange surprise visits from beloved characters like Captain America and other Marvel heroes right at the hospital.
