🎉 Our heartiest congratulations to our Philanthropreneur-in-Residence, Dr Chen Shiling, on being named The Straits Times Singaporean of the Year!

Shiling founded Happee Hearts Movement and IDHealth in 2014, driven by a deep commitment to advocating for persons with intellectual disabilities — a community she has championed since her teenage years as a volunteer. Through IDHealth, she has built Singapore's first community-based, integrated healthcare service dedicated to adults with intellectual disabilities and their caregivers.

We are proud to walk alongside Shiling on this journey, and this recognition is truly well deserved. 👏

The inaugural World X at Institute of Technical Education, Singapore (ITE) College West marks an important milestone for The Astronauts Collective (TAC), our partner under the PIR programme. With this launch, TAC’s flagship career festival now reaches students across all three ITE colleges.

We are grateful to Minister Jeffrey Siow for gracing the occasion, and to ITE for its support in making this possible.

World X is part of TAC’s broader efforts to help ITE students discover, access and prepare for future career pathways, while strengthening their sense of career well-being. It also helps students better understand their interests and aspirations and to pursue them meaningfully through work.

We recognise that the transition from school to work can be challenging. Through our support for TAC and ITE, QFS hopes to help more students feel better prepared for the journey ahead, with the confidence and opportunities to pursue work that reflects their potential and future goals.

A timely spark can set a new trajectory for the future.

That’s the spirit behind 𝐉𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭⁣ – a new strategic partnership between Quantedge Foundation, Institute of Technical Education, Singapore and The Astronauts Collective to help ITE graduates upskill and grow through the Work-Study Diploma (WSDip) pathway.

MakanBersama recently gathered 56 residents from the Hougang community for their first communal meal — marking the beginning of a long-term, ground-up journey to listen deeply, build trust, and grow together.

Rooted in the belief that every family has strengths to build on, MakanBersama creates space for authentic connection over food. These conversations are more than moments of warmth — they are the starting point for understanding each family’s hopes, challenges, and aspirations.

Through these shared moments, MakanBersama walks alongside families to co-create pathways toward financial stability — building on what’s already strong, and supporting each family to go as far as they can and want to go.

Founded by Lee Shaun Tzen through our Philanthropreneur-in-Residence programme, MakanBersama reminds us that lasting change takes more than services — it begins with relationships.

At 21, many of us still have a family to lean on, a place to call home, and a safety net to catch us if we stumble, as we figure out how to ‘adult’. But for young people ageing out of residential care, such pillars of support may be absent from their lives.

We're excited to share a new study on the housing challenges faced by young people leaving residential care and what we can do to better support their transition to independent living.

In collaboration with Children's Aid Society - Singapore (CAS),
we evaluated Thrive21+, a programme by Melrose Home (under CAS). At the heart of Thrive21+ is a Housing Programme where participants rent and share an apartment, co-pay living expenses, and receive guidance from social workers as they build their independence.

Our study explored:

● The housing needs of youth ageing out of care
● How the Thrive21+ Housing Programme supports their transition to independent living, and
● Opportunities to enhance policies and systems of support for these youths.

We hope the findings will inspire further innovation and contribute to stronger, more sustainable support for young people leaving care.
