On the eve of the New Year, Emily Woo, Harish Mohanadas and their team went down to Blk 288A in Bukit Batok to speak with residents following the fire. Two adjacent units were visibly burnt, and the affected units had been cordoned off. Residents who spoke to us shared their concerns about the incident and its impact on the block. We told them that we would keep track of developments and follow up where necessary.

For residents of Blk 288A who would like to speak to us on this or other matters, please get in touch at [email protected] or via our WhatsApp hotline at 8806 4365.

Have you tried the mushroom minced meat noodles at the Foodclique coffeeshop in Bukit Batok Street 34? If not, you should. You’ll want to come back for more. And right there too, the Waker Fried Chicken outlet — almost perfectlicious.

Some of us from Red Dot United’s (RDU) JE-BB and Jurong Central team were in Hong Kah North ward last evening, visiting residents at Blocks 347, 355, 356, 357 and 359, and chatting with patrons at the nearby coffeeshops.

Many of those we met remembered us from our last contest here. Some had just moved into the neighbourhood and were glad to see us. Several told us straight out that they had voted for us and urged us to keep going. They reminded us that winning hearts and minds is heavy lifting, but promised to walk beside us.

Lease decay was on the minds of many. The blocks we visited were built in the mid-1980s, which means they are already 40 years old with only 59 years of lease left. We shared about our mandatory SERS proposal and assured them we will keep pushing for it. Lifts were a newer addition, especially in the shorter 4-storey blocks that were originally walk-ups. Residents told us it was getting harder to climb the stairs as they aged, and that even though the lifts claimed to fit four, only two could squeeze in. We tried it ourselves — it was almost comical.

We were also encouraged to meet young residents who had just graduated and started their first jobs. They told us they were the lucky ones, as some of their friends were still struggling to find meaningful work. Others spoke about their kids preparing for the PSLE. We could feel their anxiety over the exam, which continues to be a high-stakes filtering funnel.

If you didn’t get to meet us last night, drop us a DM and we’ll be happy to connect. Even better, come volunteer with us and be part of this journey for a better Singapore.

“How can green financing be awarded for a project that involves the complete removal of a regenerating forest? Forests are not empty plots. They are living ecosystems.”

RDU would like to wish our opponents Grace Fu, Murali Pillai, David Hoe, Rahayu Mahzam and Lee Hong Chuang 李宏壮 all the best at the polls. In the nine days of campaigning, all kitchen knives are out. But we contest not because we are enemies. Far from it - we are all on the same mission to serve Singapore. Even if it is not wanton mee or chicken rice.

Over the past few days—including this very morning—I’ve been receiving repeated emails from the Elections Department of Singapore. I’ve included photos and screenshots to show just how far things have gone. Our campaign posters have been removed, repositioned, or damaged. Again and again.

I truly pity our hardworking poster installer team, who have been labouring until past midnight just to rectify the damage—only to have it happen all over again the next day. This morning was no different, and I fear more will come.

This is not right. It feels like sabotage. Just because they are feeling the heat, they’ve resorted to measures like these. It’s disappointing. It’s frustrating. It’s exhausting. But we will not be broken.

I’ve given my comments in this article by AsiaOne:

We know we’re choosing our battles and will be tackling this after GE ends. For now, I just needed to express this—to share what we’re up against.

But amidst this all, we push on. And we rally.

This will be Red Dot United’s third rally of GE2025—and we’re coming together with all 15 of our candidates taking the stage, including our Secretary-General, Ravi Philemon.

From Jurong to Nee Soon, Holland-Bukit Timah to Jurong Central—this is your chance to hear directly from those who are stepping forward to serve, speak up, and stand with Singaporeans.

Come stand with us.
