Taiko Shin Kai would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who came to our workshop with Kaoly Asano. We had so many participants from all over Sweden and the world, and your energy and enthusiasm were incredible. We hope that you found the experience as amazing as we did.

We would also like to give our warmest appreciation and gratitude to our special guests Kaoly Gocoo Asano, Kazumi Yoshida and Kaori Shiozawa, for sharing the spirit of ELEVEN with us. This weekend was an absolutely wonderful experience filled with emotion, rhythm, and soul. We have the great pleasure of welcoming Kaoly Asano to Sweden, 29-31 May 2026, at Budohuset in Uppsala!

Kaoly Asano is a leading figure in the international taiko scene, founder of the acclaimed band GOCOO and the Tokyo taiko school TAWOO. Known for her powerful “tribal” or “groove taiko” style that blends tradition with innovation, she has performed at major festivals worldwide and contributed to The Matrix Reloaded. Through taiko, she inspires freedom of movement, connection, and self-expression.

ELEVEN was created in 2011 in response to the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan. More than choreography and rhythm, the piece expresses hope, resilience, and visions for the future born from that experience. Kaoly’s visual and accessible teaching style makes this workshop open to everyone, regardless of drumming or musical background.

Regular Taiko Practice in Uppsala - Autumn 2025

We offer regular taiko practice at Budohuset, Ekeby Bruk 6E, Uppsala, Sweden. The participants must be at least 14 years of age.

Practice schedule: September 16th - December 14th | Tuesdays 19:45-21:45 (for everyone) | Sundays 9:30-12:00 (continuation) | Thursdays 19:00-21:00 (inter-mediate/advanced).
(Please note: no practice on October 23rd)

Practice fees for a semester:
* 1 session per week: 1050 kronor per semester (approx. 100 Euro)
* 2 or 3 sessions per week: 1500 kronor per semester (approx. 150 Euro)

Group insurance fee: 150 kronor per person (approx. 15 Euro)
Please note: The group insurance fee is only submitted once a year to Taiko Shin Kai.

All fees are non-refundable.

Join us for our workshops on August 30th-31st with Monica Vedia. This exciting weekend event features 4 taiko workshops at Budohuset in Uppsala, Sweden!

August 30th:
Workshop #1: Kihon TaikoMon - featuring a sequence of basic rhythms for all levels.
Workshop #2: Hachijou - we will learn the basic patterns and a simple song. For all levels.

August 31st:
Workshop #3: TaikOn Stage - improve our body awareness and stage presence. For all levels.
Workshop #4: DokoKara - a taiko piece composed by Yuta Kato. Intermediate level.

Please note: the workshops have a limited number of spots, so it will be first come first serve. If the workshop(s) become full, we will have a waiting list in case there are any cancellations.

Monica Vedia
Monica Vedia is a professional actress of the scenic arts, specialized in dramatic art, dance, gestural theater and improvisation. She has more than 20 years of experience in taiko and is the founder and teacher of the Japanese percussion school TaikoMon since 2017 in Madrid, Spain. She is also the artistic director of TaikoMon performing group and creative leader of educational and inclusive projects through the use of Taiko. Additionally, Monica is a collaborator in international taiko events.
