We’re excited to announce the publication of Issue 27 of our opinion column, AI Perspectives, written by our Director General, Reza Moussavi.

This article examines a common early failure in institutional AI adoption: the tendency to mistake visible activity for real adaptation. Many organizations can point to pilots, tools, training programs, and innovation initiatives, yet their underlying structures of work, responsibility, capability, and governance remain largely unchanged. The piece argues that AI is not primarily a technology adoption challenge but an institutional redesign problem. Without deliberate changes to how work is organized and accountability is defined, AI activity risks becoming a signal of engagement rather than evidence of transformation.

AI Perspective no. 21: Boards at the Digital Crossroads

What does it really take for a board of directors to lead in the era of digital and AI transformation? MIT Sloan Management Review and McKinsey & Company have both made it clear: digital savviness is no longer a differentiator; it’s a baseline. But here’s the twist: “It takes three to tango.”

Their research shows that only boards with at least three directors truly fluent in digital and AI can steer organizations through today’s complexity.
Yet, most boards are still playing catch-up. The risks? Fragmented strategies, missed opportunities, and a dangerous gap between ambition and real oversight. How are global leaders closing this gap, and what are the most controversial dilemmas boards face right now?

Dive into our latest article for a look at the new rules of boardroom leadership, with insights from MIT Sloan, McKinsey, and the world’s most progressive governance thinkers. Are you ready to see if your board is fit for the digital age or just playing at the edges?

🚩 New Release: AI Perspectives no. 20 – AI as a Board-Level Priority

AI is reshaping business strategy, risk, and growth opportunities for companies of all sizes. Yet most organizations, especially SMEs, still treat AI as a technical add-on rather than a boardroom imperative.

Sweden’s history of consensus-building, neutrality, and innovation provides the perfect foundation for a new era of AI leadership. Our tradition of societal resilience and collective responsibility, embodied in the concept of Total Defense (totalförsvar), has long guided the nation through change and uncertainty.

As artificial intelligence becomes integral to our future, these same principles inspire our approach to governance. In our latest article, we examine “Total Governance” (totalstyrning), a comprehensive framework that channels Sweden’s legacy of collaboration and transparency into robust, enforceable oversight for high-impact organizations, while preserving the space for academic research and creative innovation. The term Total Governance was originally coined by Reza Moussavi, director general of the Swedish AI Association.

From Total Defense to Total Governance is more than a transition; it is a reflection of Sweden’s unique capacity to lead with trust, accountability, and a focus on the public good. We invite our partners and the global community to engage with this vision and join the conversation on building a resilient, human-centered AI future.
