Rojhelat is the name of the part of Kurdistan, which is currently occupied by Iran. Throughout history this region has often been at the centre of the Kurdish struggle for freedom, and too often this has led to tragic consequences that we read about in history books. From the establishment of the Kurdish Republic at the end of World War II to the recent unrest in the city of Mahabad after the myst
erious death of a young Kurdish woman named Farinaz, Rojhelat has experienced both sadness and joy but and also success and defeat. Today, however, knowledge about the region is limited and few know about the constant oppression the Kurds in the area suffer. The purpose of this group is to bring together different interests and experiences of the Kurdish Diaspora in Sweden and as the name suggests, focus our actions and activities on Rojhelat. Our activities will primarily be based on knowledge dissemination about the different types of oppression that the Kurds in Iran are exposed to and have suffered historically, and our approach will be everything from physical actions in the form of skits and plays at various political events to organising seminars and info meetings on Rojhelat. We will also work actively to create networks within the political scene in Europe and among the population to change prevailing attitudes and knowledge levels about the Kurds in Rojhelat but also Iran generally. We are politically and religiously independent and our campaigns are all encompassing in terms of the diversity and differences that exist within the political spectrum in Rojhelat.
