Years of conflict and displacement have left many women and girls in North Darfur facing heightened protection risks, limited access to services, and reduced opportunities to participate in decisions affecting their lives.
With support from and the Women's Peace & Humanitarian Fund (WPHF), Dirar Charity Organization (DCO), in partnership with Creative Future Organization (CFO), has launched the Integrated GBV Response and Empowerment for Women and Girls in North Darfur Project.
Despite the challenging operating environment, DCO is reaching conflict-affected and hard-to-reach communities across El Tina, Kernoi, Dar El Salam, and remote areas of El Fasher locality, bringing protection services closer to those who need them most.
The project is strengthening GBV prevention and awareness, establishing women's protection networks, and empowering women and girls to take an active role in promoting safety, resilience, and positive change within their communities.
These photos capture the beginning of that journey: communities coming together, voices being heard, and local solutions taking shape.
Together with communities, we are investing in dignity, protection, and leadership for women and girls in North Darfur.

When hundreds of thousands of vulnerable families are forced to flee their homes, lose loved ones, and seek safety in a poor village like Tawilla, they survive in fragile shelters with almost nothing.
During the hot month of Ramadan, devastating fire incidents destroyed the few belongings they had left.

As the war in Sudan approaches 1,000 days, the suffering of women and young girls has reached a breaking point. Mothers are raising children in conditions no family should ever endure — no privacy, no safe shelter, no dignity kits, and now, increasingly, no food.

In Umbaru, Kernui, and Eltina, displacement has reached its worst level yet.
More than 200,000 people have been forced to flee as fighting expands. Their only water source — as seen in the photos — is unsafe, and young girls and mothers walk long, dangerous distances to fetch just a few litres. Every trip exposes them to violence, harassment, and protection risks, yet they have no other choice.

Every day, new families run for their lives with nothing but the clothes they wear.

Every day, women carry the full weight of survival on their shoulders.

Every day, girls face heightened risks simply because the world has not given them the safety they deserve.

DCO is on the ground — standing with these displaced families, listening, supporting, and doing everything possible with the limited resources available. But the needs are growing faster than our capacity.

Dirar Charity Organization DCO & Aseel Technology Sign Strategic MoU to Advance Transparent, Decentralized Humanitarian Aid in Sudan
Dirar Charity Organization (DCO), a Sudanese women‑focused NGO dedicated to empowering women and girls through integrated Protection, WASH, and Livelihood programming, is pleased to announce a new strategic partnership with Aseel Technology (www.aseelapp.com), a global humanitarian‑tech startup based in Washington, D.C.
Together, we have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that marks the beginning of a transformative collaboration aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and traceability in humanitarian assistance across Sudan.
At the heart of this partnership is the adoption of the AidOS platform (www.aidos.com), a cutting‑edge digital system designed to ensure that every contribution reaches the intended beneficiaries with full visibility and integrity. By leveraging AidOS, both organizations reaffirm their commitment to decentralized, tech‑enabled humanitarian delivery.
Under this MoU, DCO and Aseel Technology will jointly mobilize resources to support conflict‑affected communities across Sudan — with a special focus on remote and hard‑to‑reach areas where humanitarian access remains extremely limited. The partnership prioritizes the urgent needs of vulnerable women, girls, and children who continue to face severe shortages of essential services.
Funds raised through this collaboration will support:
- Access to safe drinking water: drilling boreholes and trucking water to communities facing acute shortages
- Dignity kits for women and girls: supporting health, safety, and well‑being
Food packages for families: addressing malnutrition, especially among young children.
- Construction of women‑friendly sanitation facilities: ensuring privacy, dignity, and protection.
- Support for schoolchildren and trauma‑affected girls: including psychosocial support and access to learning
- Vocational training for youth and women: delivered through online learning supported by satellite internet services such as Starlink
Both organizations share a deep belief that empowering women and girls is central to building resilient communities and fostering sustainable peace. This partnership represents a meaningful step toward expanding humanitarian reach, enhancing transparency, and delivering life‑saving support to those who need it most.
DCO and Aseel Technology look forward to a strong and impactful collaboration that uplifts communities, strengthens accountability, and advances dignity and hope for the people of Sudan.
We invite donors, institutions, and individuals to support this initiative. Every contribution — no matter the size — saves lives.
