🌱 Tree Identification Palooza!🌱

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming around 14 enthusiastic students from Anse Aux Pins Primary for an exciting hands-on learning journey in nature!

The children explored tree identification methods by measuring leaves and using their five senses to carefully analyze a variety of species—from endemic treasures to invasive plants. 🍃👀👃✋👂

Our adventure continued along the trail, where we observed remarkable endemic species such as the iconic Coco-de-mer and Barringtonia racemosa. The students showed incredible curiosity and engagement, making the experience both fun and educational.

A wonderful day of discovery, learning, and appreciation for our unique natural heritage! 🌿💚

🌱 Vermiponics Training Highlights!🪱

Inspiring the next generation to lead the way in river stewardship through circular agriculture! 💪

With over 75% youth participation, the energy was incredible throughout the two-day training.

🪱Day 1 focused on building a strong foundation, as participants gained theoretical knowledge about vermiponics and its role in sustainable farming and healthy river ecosystems.

🪱Day 2 was all about action — participants got hands-on, built systems, and weren’t afraid to get a little dirty while learning by doing! 🌿💧

From interactive activities to a fun before-and-after quiz, the experience was filled with curiosity, collaboration, and plenty of smiles. It was a powerful reminder that working with nature creates lasting impact. 🌎✨

A sincere thank you to all our partners who made this initiative possible — your support is shaping a greener, more resilient future. 🙌

🌿✨ Learning Beyond the Classroom!✨🌿

Today was filled with excitement, curiosity, and discovery as Takamaka Primary School teamed up with Baie Lazare Primary School for a fun and engaging trail walk! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

Our young explorers set off on a mission to discover and identify living and non-living things around them. Using all their senses — seeing, hearing, touching, and even smelling — they made meaningful connections with the environment and asked thoughtful questions about the world they live in. 🌍👀👂

This hands-on experience not only sparked their curiosity but also deepened their understanding of nature. 🌱💡 Students walked away with valuable knowledge and a growing appreciation for the importance of loving and protecting our environment through conservation practices. 💚🌳

A big well done to all the students, sponsors and teachers for making this learning adventure so memorable! 👏✨

🌿💧 Empowering Youth for Healthier Rivers! 💧🌿

What an inspiring day out in the field! As part of our ongoing project to empower young people in river management, GAEA Seychelles—together with the Baie Lazare Watershed Committee and Beau Vallon Secondary—hosted an engaging River Health Assessment training 🙌

Our enthusiastic students explored the journey of the Baie Lazare River, flowing from the Dan Sours catchment all the way down to the beautiful Anse Gaulette Beach 🌊 Along the way, they discovered why river health matters—not just for nature, but for our communities too.

One of the highlights? Getting hands-on with the Clarity Tube! 🧪 Students learned how to measure water clarity and better understand what it tells us about the condition of our rivers.

Big thank you to everyone who made this meaningful experience possible 💚 Together, we are nurturing the next generation of environmental stewards!
