Ending Stigma, Empowering Teen mothers!

Friday,On 9 October 2026, IPEA, through the TM-RISE Project, in partnership with the Scottish Government, Ecorys, and FAWE Rwanda, joined Rulindo District leaders and community members to celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child under the theme “An Empowered Girl, a Brighter Future.”

The event was attended by Mr. MUTAGANDA Théophile, Vice Mayor of Rulindo District in charge of Social Affairs; Lt. Col. KARURANGA Emmanuel, Rulindo District Army Commander; IBARINDE Dieudonné, representing RNP; NSENGIYUMVA Emmanuel, representing RIB Rulindo; and the Executive Secretaries of Base and Cyungo Sectors, alongside teen mothers and other participants.

Together, we promoted girls’ rights, inclusion, and an end to stigma and discrimination against teen mothers.

Today, IPEA welcomed representatives from the Scottish Government, Ecorys, and FAWE Rwanda for a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) visit under the TM-RISE Project. Joined by the Vice Mayor of Rulindo District, district and sector leaders from Base and Cyungo, the team engaged with teen mothers in Gatete Village, who shared their inspiring stories, showcased their skills, and performed a skit highlighting the project's impact.
