A powerful insight on Africa’s renewable energy growth from John Van Zuylen, CEO of AFSIA, during REFA 2025: “It’s never been a better time. We are seeing unprecedented levels of growth, more so than in any other region of the world. And this is the first time that Africa is actually growing significantly more than China, than Europe, than the US. And I think this is a serious source of pride. Now we need to deliver on this promise. All the elements are united to make it happen.”
Africa has everything it needs to adopt clean, reliable, and affordable energy and together, we can make the continent a leader in the global renewable energy transition.

“Capital only flows to locations with clear policy and regulation.” During REFA 2025 in Accra, H.E. Simone Giger, Swiss Ambassador to Ghana, Benin & Togo, emphasized the critical role of strong policies and regulatory frameworks in attracting investment to Ghana’s renewable energy sector. Her insight underlines why Africa’s clean energy future depends on creating transparent, investor-friendly environments that enable sustainable growth.

Congratulations to AIKO, an equipment manufacturer, for signing a landmark agreement to supply 225MW of advanced back-contact solar modules to CrossBoundary Energy for the Kamoa Project, powering one of Africa’s largest copper mines. This partnership delivers 30MW of dispatchable renewable baseload energy, reducing diesel use and cutting carbon emissions by about 78,750 tonnes annually. It marks the largest deployment of BC technology in Africa to date.
