Good Evening SRHR Champions!

The journey continues🥳 one conversation, one champion and one spark of change at a time!

This week, we held a 3-day Training of Trainers (TOT) on SRHR as part of our Imbibi Project, implemented in partnership with NUDOR and in Nyarubuye Sector, .

Over the three days, participants explored key components of SRHR, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and facilitation skills using a youth-centered and intersectional approach to create safe learning spaces.

One reflection strongly stood out throughout the sessions, in many spaces in Nyarubuye, adolescents and young women are growing up surrounded by silence, assumptions and misinformation about their bodies, relationships and rights.

Participants highlighted the urgent need to create spaces where youth can access accurate information, openly ask questions and build personal boundaries that help them protect themselves and make informed decisions.

Three facilitators and two youth champions were trained and are now more confident and better equipped to train adolescents and young women in Nyarubuye sector.

Join us as we celebrate the new group of informed champions ready to spark change in their communities! something exciting is coming your way, and we cannot wait to share it with you!

Stay tuned as champions prepare to take conversations, energy and learning into the community. Nyarubuye, here we come!

Happy week Change Makers,

It truly takes a village.✨

We officially launched the Imbibi Project in Nyarubuye Sector, , in partnership with NUDOR and , bringing together community actors including health workers, educators, faith leaders, social affairs leaders, health providers and law enforcement officers.

The launch was marked by a training on inclusive SRHR service delivery, setting the foundation for stronger, more responsive community systems.

We were honored to be joined by the Vice Mayor in charge of Social Affairs in Kirehe District, who commended Imbibi as a project that will positively impact the community.

“Our goal is to take care of adolescents and young women in the community and give them access to accurate information so they can understand and protect their boundaries. When someone has boundaries, they succeed. Girls and young women in Kirehe face many challenges.
Through the Imbibi Project they can learn, take charge of their lives and live a good life,” she shared.

Round two and the energy is still unmatched

We held our second recruitment session for the Right Holders for the in-school club at GS Migongo/TSS and out-of-school safe space in the Nyarutunga Cell in Nyarubuye Sector, under the Imbibi Project, implemented with NUDOR and .

We recruited a total of 40 out of school girls and young women aged between 15-24, and 30 adolescents girls and boys aged between 15-19.

Each new participant brings us one step closer to building a generation of young people who know their worth, understand their rights, and have the confidence to protect their boundaries.

Speaking to the girls and young women at the cell, the Executive Secretary of Nyarubuye sector Kirehe District expressed his support for the project: "Some people believe that when a girl becomes a teen mother, it gives others the right to sexually exploit her, simply because she has already had a child while still living at home. This is not true. We therefore appreciate this project and believe it will contribute to reducing teenage pregnancies, challenging this belief and increasing awareness of girls’ rights in Nyarubuye sector".

Together, we are providing access to accurate SRHR information so that they can make informed choices and confident boundaries .

Hi Change Makers! It’s time for the grand reveal!

Today, we launched the Imbibi Project in partnership with NUDOR and , through an introductory meeting with duty bearers from Nyarubuye Sector, .

Imbibi is an SRHR project supporting adolescents and young women with compounded vulnerabilities to understand, claim, and protect their personal boundaries especially around their bodies, consent, and informed decision-making.

The RIB Chief Investigator in Nyarubuye highlighted challenges linked to limited access to information, including strong mindset barriers, limited open discussions on SRHR, protection of perpetrators and normalization of GBV in the community.

Together, we are building safer, more informed communities where adolescent and young women with compounded vulnerabilities can access accurate information, grow in confidence, and make informed choices.

Your body is yours, your voice matters, and your boundaries deserve respect.
Stay tuned for more updates.

We had the pleasure of hosting a master’s student from Cairo University, who is exploring women’s empowerment, leadership and social change in Rwanda.

What stood out most from our conversation was how collective action continues to shape real impact through the wins we celebrate and the challenges we navigate.

Moments like these remind us that building a world where girls and young women live healthy, dignified and economically independent lives is a shared journey and we’re excited to keep the momentum going.

This morning was a good one!

We had the pleasure of hosting Karisimbi Shallon and Viateur Bicali from DiDe (Dignity in Detention), an organisation working to support vulnerable communities across Rwanda.
We love meeting people who are just as passionate about impact as we are!

We got to share about our work at Impanuro Girls Initiative (IGI), especially our Women Economic Empowerment and Leadership program where we’re all about helping girls and young women build independence, confidence, and real opportunities through entrepreneurship, vocational skills, leadership, and savings groups.

Of course, it wasn’t just us talking.  We also got to learn about the incredible work happening at DIDE and explore avenues for collaboration in advocacy and crime prevention.

We’re always ready to connect, learn, and grow with fellow change-makers.
We are grateful for the visit and definitely excited about what we could potentially build together.
