Today, members of the Association of Liberian Students at ULK carried out a meaningful visit to the Genocide Memorial as a sign of solidarity with the people of Rwanda and in remembrance of the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

The visit served as a powerful learning experience for Liberian students, helping us understand the dangers of genocide ideology, the importance of unity, and the value of peaceful coexistence. It was also a moment of reflection, respect, and commitment to promoting love, tolerance, and humanity.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the University Administration for granting permission, the memorial management for hosting us, and all students who participated in this important visit. Your presence demonstrated solidarity, respect, and willingness to learn.

Let us continue to stand for peace, unity, and remembrance.

โ€ŽThe Association of Liberian Students at Kigali Independent University (ALS-ULK) showed up and showed out for this yearโ€™s Cultural Day! It was an amazing event that brought together over 15 African nations, each sharing their unique traditions through dance, drama, and visual displays.

โ€Ž Liberia truly stood out. Our cultural dances and marital drama performance captured the room. Seeing the smiles on our dancers' faces and hearing the audience cheer for our heritage was a reminder that even though we are far from home, our culture lives within us, it is our identity.

โ€ŽBig Thanks:
โ€ŽTo our amazing Culture Team: You guys were excellent! Thank you for representing the motherland so well to our African brothers and sisters.

โ€ŽTo every Liberian who came out: Your support made everything better. We felt the love!

โ€ŽTo The Kigali Independent University: Thanks for hosting such a colorful and inclusive day.

โ€ŽTo our Leadership: Under H.E. Pannah Toby Jr., thank you for making sure our culture was seen and celebrated.

ALS-ULK Leadership decided to celebrate Christmas by sharing with fellow students and children.
Yesterday, Leaders of the Association headed by H.E. Pannah Toby Jr, reached out to more than 25 homes of Liberian Students sharing the little they could; Rice, Oil, Season Cubes, and other food items.

This gesture which was highly welcomed by many students and leaders is not just about sharing food items, it is sharing Love and reawakening the spirit of Christmas we usually experience back home.
Being Distance from home doesn't mean we are alone. This is to remind students that we have to look out for one another. No matter how small the gift is, it is the heart behind it that counts. We are proud of our community and look forward to a new year filled with more growth, academic success, and mutual support.

Thanks to our fellow Students and Leaders who contributed in making this possible.

As one of the greatest Leader, Mahatma Gandhi once said "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." These are leaders who actually brought this statement alive.
Thanks to Leaders who walked miles to share with others:

Mr. Pannah Toby Jr - President
Mr. Oplano J. Mulbah -- Vice President
Mr. Cyrus G. Fallah -- Secretary General
Ms. Mariama Kamara -- Asst. Secretary
Ms. Grace Russell -- Financial Secretary
Mr. Jerry Bundoo - Presidential Advisor
Mr. Enoch Zuannah -- Member

Together we can achieve bigger things and build a strong community.

On October 25, 2025, at the main hall of Kigali Independent University (ULK) during the 1st Inaugural Program of the Union of Nimba Students in East Africa, members of the leadership of the Association of Liberian Students in ULK had the distinct honor of meeting with Senator Samuel Gongbeh Korgar.

Our discussion with the Senator focused on the mobilization of resources to enhance studentsโ€™ welfare. During the meeting, H.E. Pannah Toby, Jr., President of the Association, passionately presented the challenges faced by Liberian students both on and off campus. Speaking with a deep sense of patriotism, he appealed for the Senatorโ€™s swift intervention to help address these pressing issues.

In response, Senator Korgar commended the leadership for their proactive engagement and acknowledged the concerns raised in good faith. He expressed his regret for meeting with the students late, noting that most of the resources he had brought for the trip were already utilized. Nonetheless, he assured the leadership of his firm commitment to contribute upon his return to Liberia and encouraged them to contact him immediately for follow-up.

Thanks to Honorable Samuel Gongbeh Korgar for listening to the plights of Liberian Students at ULK.

On the 28th of August 2024, the Inspector General of Police IGP. Gregory O W Coleman of the Republic of Liberia, Sen. Francis Saidy Dopoh II, senator, River Gee County, and the commissioner visited the student body here in Rwanda after their missions.

It was a splendid chat, some issues face by students were addressed before them, and looking forward to settlement.

Some of which were:

4. Appointment of a Law Enforcement Officer between the Rwanda National Police and Liberian Students in Rwanda.

And etcโ€ฆโ€ฆ

We want to take this time to appreciate the Senator, IGP and Commissioner of the Republic of Liberia for passing by and handling some of the issues on ground, and we hope to see more of this from our officials back home.

Turnover note: H.E. Plus C. Barchue- 1st legitimate President of the Association of Liberian Students at ULK.

All protocol observed. As my term as president draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the remarkable journey we've shared together over the past year. I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your unwavering support, tireless dedication, and immense passion that has defined our association. And also to the outgoing leaders, you guys are some of the brightest minds we have in this institution. It was an excellent experience working together.

Serving as your president has been an immense privilege and a defining experience in my life. I have been continually inspired by the collective energy, ambition, and resilience of every one of you. It is your commitment and enthusiasm that have driven our successes and shaped the vibrant community that we all belong to.

As we pass on the baton to the incoming leadership, we have full confidence in their capabilities to lead with the same integrity, vision, and dedication that have been the hallmarks of our association. I urge all of you to extend your full support to our incoming leader, as they embark on this important responsibility.

Looking back, I am immensely proud of the strides we have made and the meaningful impact we have collectively achieved during my tenure. The shared memories, accomplishments, and the spirit of camaraderie will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Thank you once again for entrusting me with the role of president. The memories and experiences we've shared will forever be cherished, and I am deeply grateful for the honor to have served in this capacity.

We are leaving power, but not service to our people. We shall continue the support and provide services to the new leadership whenever necessary.

Thank you plenty!!!
