Imbuto Foundation

Imbuto Foundation Engage, Educate, Empower Through PACFA, thousands of women traumatized by genocide and deliberately infected with HIV/AIDS were given hope and renewed value.

In 2001, the Protection and Care of Families against HIV/AIDS (PACFA) was established, as a project under the Office of the First Lady, to mobilize resources desperately needed in the fight against HIV/AIDS. We are committed to improving the quality of life for families affected by HIV/AIDS and providing health care to vulnerable groups. Over the years, PACFA embraced new programs and initiatives,

involved more people and cultivated a sense of greater purpose. We grew to understand that providing hope, good health, quality education and economic empowerment to the most vulnerable communities is paramount in the goal of our national development. As PACFA began to embrace these new initiatives and programs, stakeholders believed the organization needed to change its name to better reflect its evolution. Therefore, in 2007 the Imbuto Foundation was founded to expound on the work done by PACFA and to be a key player in the process of national development. Literally translated Imbuto means “seed”. A seed well planted, watered, nurtured and given all the necessary support successfully grows into a healthy plant; one that reaches high and stands tall. This vision shapes the Imbuto Foundation’s current initiatives and future projects.
