Kigali Genocide Memorial KGM is the final resting place for more than 250,000 victims of the Genocide against the Tutsi. It is an important place of remembrance and learning.

The Kigali Genocide Memorial is a place of remembrance and learning and commemorates the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. The Aegis Trust, a genocide prevention organisation, was invited to establish the memorial in partnership with the Kigali City Council. It was opened in April 2004, the tenth commemoration of the Genocide. Today Aegis Trust manages the memorial on behalf of the National Commiss

ion for the Fight against Genocide. Since its opening, the memorial has welcomed hundreds of thousands of visitors, including young people and leaders and politicians from the Great Lakes region and beyond — from countries throughout Africa and from the wider international community.
