Friday evening, we were invited by H.E. Ali Yerli, the Ambassador of the Kazahstan Republic, to celebrate Nauryz, enjoying a show with music and dances perfomed by Kazah artists at Teatrul National de Opereta.

Nauryz is a traditional spring holiday celebrated on March 21–22, marking the Persian New Year and the arrival of the vernal equinox.

The holiday symbolizes renewal, prosperity, and harmony with nature. People celebrate with festive meals (especially a traditional dish called Nauryz kozhe), with cultural performances, and community gatherings.

"Fragments of unstable body " opens a wide array of perceptions as fragility and solid structure, concept and emotion, ephemeral and eternal are continuously touching.
Alida Velea takes the visitor on a surprising journey through the body seen as a territory of change and vulnerability, as a polymorphic surface on which identities are continuously rewritten.
But even more fascinating was the great sincerity with which Alida took us into her life and work and answered our questions.

We shared a wonderful time filled with happiness: friendly and meaningful discussions, delicious food, a beautiful setting at Bergamot teahouse, lovely weather, and more.

Also, at the March coffee morning we have enjoyed a generous tombola to celebrate the Women's month in this beautifully renovated ex-house of Minister Gafencu, the Bergamot tea house.

Tasteful pastries were served in elegant china bone porcelain and we were enjoying having the tea with our friends from the community.

We thank Georgiana Pogonaru, Narcisa Lecusanu, Sandra Radu, Rodica Solga and Cristina Lazar for their generous donations.

During March coffee morning, our guest, Narcisa Lecușanu, former Romanian handball medalist and Executive Board Member of the International Handball Federation (IHF) since 2017, inspired us with her life story and determination to reach her dream.

Chairing the Women’s Handball Working Group, she advocates for inclusive growth and lifelong learning, believing that supporting people through knowledge is key to the future of handball. As a mother of two, she also understands the importance of investing in education and creating opportunities for the next generation. Her journey from world-class athlete to global handball ambassador reflects the power of mentorship, education, and giving back.

We were honored to have Colonel Manuela-Elena Mihai as our speaker for the March coffee morning.

Colonel Manuela-Elena Mihai was appointed in 2015 as legal advisor in the NATO Force Integration Unit (NFIU), becoming the first legal advisor of any NATO Headquarters established in Bucharest.

In 2018, she became the first Chief of the Gender Management Office within the Department for Parliament Liaison and Personnel Welfare, later being designated as National Focal Point for the “Women, Peace and Security” agenda.

With over 25 years experience in the security and defense sector, including in the EU, UN, NATO, she inspired us with her determination towards reaching her dream.

The NEWCOMERS MEETING is behind us.

On this sunny day☀️new and longtime IWA members came together for a lovely meeting. Women from Mexico, Brazil, Canada, Turkey, Greece, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland and from the USA joined us creating a truly international atmosphere. It was a wonderful opportunity to get to know each other better, share interesting conversations, and to enjoy discovering another place on the Bucharest’s culinary map☀️☕️

✨🏮 Happy Lantern Festival! 🏮✨

Last week, we had the honor to be invited by H.E. Mr Cheng Feng, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China and his wife, to celebrate together the International Women's day and the Lantern festival, on the first full moon of the lunar calendar.

The Lantern Festival marks the final celebration of the Lunar New Year season and it symbolizes hope, reunion, and new beginnings.

Families and communities gather to light colorful lanterns, solve lantern riddles, watch lion and dragon dances, and enjoy sweet rice dumplings called tangyuan, which represent togetherness and family unity.

There was something so beautiful about sharing this moment together — the colors, the smiles, the music, and the feeling that every lantern carried a small wish with it.

We had different nationalities of the IWA ladies participating at the event and enjoying to discover about this Chinese tradition.
