The penultimate day, Day 7 of our "From Hate to Understanding" training was all about putting our learning into action and planning for the future. It was a day of transition, moving from indoor learning to community-led implementation. 🤝
⚡Community Projects: Participants stepped into the role of facilitators, running workshops for local youth. It was a great opportunity to apply the non-formal educational tools in a real-world setting and see the methods in action.
💡 Future Cooperation: in small groups participants designed potential Erasmus+ projects focused on preventing hate speech and discrimination. By clearly defining the “What, Why, Who, When, and How,” we laid the groundwork for future collaboration.
🎓 Evaluation & Youthpass: We closed our formal sessions with final feedback and the official Youthpass ceremony, recognizing the new competencies each participant has developed.
🥂 Farewell Party, Karaoke Evening: We concluded the evening with a celebration of the connections made and the hard work everyone put in throughout the week.
The past few days were intense and rewarding. Participants gained new knowledge, tools, methods and experiences that they can use in their local communities.

Day 6, Monday was a busy day of learning outside the classroom. We moved from theoretical understanding to seeing real-world challenges and preparing our own community actions. 💡
🏘️ Startup Hub & GAL Sepsi: We visited our association’s office at Startup Hub to explore local initiatives, followed by a visit to GAL Sepsi to learn about their complex, vital work with the segregated local Roma community.
🎭 Non-formal education tools and methods: In the afternoon we reviewed 14 distinct methods of non-formal education. To put these tools to the application, participants acted out hot issues, addressing topics like bullying, hate speech, discrimination and exclusion. Each group chose a theater form to present their scenario, proposing creative, actionable solutions from a youth worker’s perspective.
📝 Local Action Planning: We spent the final part of the day in small groups designing the workshops we will facilitate for local students tomorrow. We structured our plans to include the title, target group, topic, theme, competence development, step-by-step methodology, roles, and necessary materials.
📓 Reflection: We closed the day with small-group reflection sessions, where participants documented their insights in their learning journals.
We are now fully prepared to put our training into practice!

Day 5 was a day for internal reflection, focusing on the people, systems, and environments that shape our worldviews, attitudes, and behaviors.
🧠 Mapping Our Influences: We engaged in an exploration of how our immediate circles, close people, community, and society, have a powerful influence on our beliefs. Recognizing these influences is an important step for youth workers.
⚖️ "Dignityland" Simulation: We stepped into the shoes of policymakers in "Dignityland," where we debated social policies and navigated the complexities of human rights and resource allocation.
🗺️📱 City Treasure Hunt: In the afternoon we took our learning to the streets! We held an interactive treasure hunt around the city, using digital tools to solve challenges. It was a great way to bond and see Sfântu Gheorghe from a new perspective.
📓Reflection: We concluded the day with small-group reflection sessions, where participants documented their personal insights and key takeaways from the day in their learning journals.
By challenging our own perspectives and connecting with the environment around us, we are better prepared to foster true equality.

Day 4 in Sfântu Gheorghe: Uncovering the Roots of Social Injustice 🔍⚖️

Our Erasmus+ training course, "From Hate To Understanding" (April 16–22), is moving into its most profound phase. Saturday was for our "Day of exploring social injustice," our participants moved beyond surface-level definitions to examine the complex structures that allow discrimination to persist in our societies.

Highlights from Saturday’s sessions:

🧱 The Roots of Prejudices: We engaged in deep discussions to identify where biases begin and how they grow into systemic discrimination.

⚠️ The Pyramid of Hate: Using this powerful framework, we explored how biased attitudes can escalate into more dangerous societal behaviors if left unchecked.

🔄 Multiple Perspectives: We analyzed hate speech from various viewpoints—victim, bystander, and perpetrator—to understand the psychological and social impact on different communities.

⚖️ Social Differences & Injustice: Our participants from Romania, the Netherlands, Hungary, Austria, Lithuania, Malta, Latvia, Greece, and the Czech Republic compared how social injustice manifests in their respective local contexts.

💬 Reflection & Connection: As always, we closed the day with reflection groups to process these heavy topics before gathering for dinner.

It was a challenging but necessary day of growth. By understanding the roots of the problem, these youth workers are becoming better equipped to foster true equality and justice.

Stay tuned for more updates! 🕊️✨

The journey continues: Deep Dives and Cultural Vibes! 🔍💻

Our "From Hate To Understanding" training course (April 16–22) is moving full steam ahead! Yesterday, for our "Day of exploring hate speech," we tackled the complexities of the digital world and the realities of our diverse home countries.🌍

Highlights from Friday’s journey:

🎙️ Guest Expert Session: We were honored to welcome a local professional journalist from Sfântu Gheorghe who led our "Social Media – Fact or Fake News" activity! Her professional insights helped us critically engage with how media shapes opinions and how to identify misinformation.📝

💎 Hate Speech Diamond: We used this tool to reflect on the impact of offensive language and the underlying social structures of privilege and discrimination.

🌍 National Realities: Our participants shared the specific challenges regarding hate speech within their own countries, fostering a deeper understanding of our different local contexts.

🥐 Intercultural Evening: We wrapped up the day with a spectacular celebration! We traveled across Europe without leaving the room, tasting snacks and sharing traditions from Romania, the Netherlands, Hungary, Austria, Lithuania, Malta, Latvia, Greece, and the Czech Republic.🕺

It was a day of intense learning balanced with wonderful moments of community. We are so proud of the work these youth workers are putting in to build a more inclusive future.
