On 6 February 2026, we convened the Civil Society Forum at UN Headquarters as an official segment of the 64th Commission for Social Development.

Bringing civil society, Member States, and UN representatives into the same room created something essential: direct dialogue grounded in shared responsibility. In a time of overlapping global crises, the value of live debate and collective ownership in practice cannot be overstated.

Anchored in the Copenhagen and Doha Declarations, the Forum reaffirmed that global commitments only gain meaning with the lived experience, oversight, and practical solutions of civil society. Through this, together we can implement coordinated, equitable, and inclusive policies for poverty eradication, universal social protection, decent work, and social inclusion.

Advancing social development and social justice starts by being present, together. We warmly thank our panelists for their expertise and leadership, the participants for their constructive engagement and evidence-based contributions, and the NGO Committee for Social Development team members and technical support whose commitment made this Forum possible. We also extend our sincere appreciation to our partners, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung and UNDESA, whose support was instrumental in delivering this successful event.

We invite you to watch the full session through the link in our bio. NGOCSocD looks forward to continuing the discussion and advancing these commitments together.

Closing the gaps for social development cannot wait. As we prepare for the Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD2) this November in Doha, we are reminded that fair and inclusive systems lift everyone, reduce inequality, and build stronger, more cohesive societies.

Trust grows when civil society has a seat at the table. Inclusive and transparent processes create opportunity, build equity, and strengthen solidarity across communities. The NGO Committee for Social Development is proud to amplify UN DESA’s “Accelerating Social Progress” campaign and looks forward to continued partnership in the months ahead as we work together toward an ambitious and inclusive WSSD2.

Let’s stand in solidarity this September — and beyond — to accelerate progress for all. 💙
