I caught up with the incredible co-founders of Rebecca, and , who are on a mission to create a world where every girl feels she belongs and can design her own place within it.

I started working with Rebecca and Rachita a couple of years ago, and I’m now proud to be one of their Big Sisters. But the truth is, I often find myself learning just as much from them.

They have created an incredible brand and a mission that aligns so closely with everything we stand for at Girls in Movement. Their advice for young people is honest, humble and full of wisdom.

We’re one in a million 💜✨

When Canva set out to give 1 million nonprofits free access to design tools, we were so happy to be featured in their story at the start of the year in Forbes

At Girls in Movement, our story is simple: every child deserves to see themselves as the hero of their own story. Through school visits, our podcast, and our children’s book The Girl and Her Globe, we’ve used Canva to reach 22,000 children across 25 countries with materials that actually land with kids.

So when Canva hit this incredible milestone, we were so proud to be one of the nonprofits featured in coverage of it

A huge thank you to and Connie Leung for shining a light on our work, and for building tools that let small teams like ours punch above our weight. 🙌

One million nonprofits. Countless stories. So glad ours is one of them.

My last school reading for this term ☀️

This is my 18th school reading this year 🕺🏽⚡️

I set out to read in as many schools as possible - and when September hits and we’re back at school - so am I!

So, what have I learnt 🤔

👩🏽‍🎓 Lots of young people want to work to make money - duh - but we’re telling people to follow their dreams? Not all dreams have to deliver revenue. Kids and teachers can’t believe it when I say I make no money from this work, I rarely charge for my time at Girls in Movement and if I do it’s a donation from the school. So, if you have a passion and you’re young - just do the thing first and get really good at it.

🎤 I’m speaking publicly daily - but the nervous energy I feel speaking to young children is a different nervous. They hang on to every word - and as adults very few people do that in our adult life. But young people really stop and take a moment to listen.

🕺🏽 Great teachers make a difference. I’ve met nearly 50-60 teachers now in the last 6 months. The ones who stand out are the ones who don’t just see this as a tick box - they truly want to make a change.

⚡️ Kids are ambitious. They just don’t know where and how to channel that ambition. They also don’t know who to go to for advice. I always take 30 mins at the end of my session, with a smaller group of girls - to let them ask me anything. It’s interesting how questions of fears, uncertainty crop up in those quick exchanges.

💻 As adults we’re stuck behind a screen! Why are kids so creative - because they’re outside. One girl asked me where does my creativity come from - I said from being outside. It allows me to stop and think. If you’re an adult reading this, as kids we would play outside for 1.5 hours - do you get outside for 1.5 hours now? If not, why?

💷 When starting out don’t waste money on software - use the free tiers of most tools like .opus

This week I had the chance to visit thanks to my aunty who kindly introduced me to the school. It made the visit even more special knowing my cousins went there when they were younger.

I spent the morning with the amazing Year 6 pupils, who are just about to start their next adventure in Year 7.

It’s such a big milestone. One minute you’re the oldest in school, and the next you’re the youngest again. It can be exciting, a little scary, and a time when confidence really starts to shift.

We chatted about my journey, The Girl and Her Globe, why reading matters, and believing that your future can be bigger than you ever imagined.

The questions they asked reminded me just how curious, thoughtful and ambitious young people are when we give them the space to ask.

As it’s South Asian Heritage Month, it felt especially meaningful to stand in front of these students and share my story. Representation matters, and I hope at least one child left believing that they can write their own story too.

Thank you to everyone at Balsall Common Primary for such a warm welcome, and to my aunty for making the introduction. 💜

Had such a fun time on with talking all things Girls In Movement, Enterprise Nation, AI basics and what more we can do for young people in the UK.

Asian network was on in my house when we were growing up, my mum would clean the house every Saturday, and have it on in the background. So it was pretty epic to be on the show, in the studio and have my sister and mum in the producers lounge listening.

I’m on a personal mission to educate 1 million girls globally, lots more work to be done. Moments like this make Girls in Movement feel real. 💪🏾🎙️

What a pleasure it was to meet of

In life we go off energy and Zara you had such good energy. Zara is founder of Delhicious an all-natural, vegan skincare brand.

I love seeing South Asian Women taking the beauty industry by storm. We also spoke on stage and Zara’s personal story and journey is inspiring for any young person who is unsure - or looking for a career switch.

Zara went from school teacher to entrepreneur 👩🏽‍🎓💅

Thanks for having me Manor Park Primary, it was so much fun!

We spent an assembly with over 100 students across Y3-Y5, I spoke about the book, my career and why more young people need to read.

It’s the national year of reading so I made a deliberate effort to spend as many lunchtimes in as many schools as possible this year.

At the end of the session a smaller group of girls were able to ask as many questions as they wanted…

“Have you ever been scared?”
“Would you write another book?”
“What would you do differently if you were our age?”
“Did you like school”

Often when I hear the question, I see that a young person just wants reassurance, and in life sometimes all we need is reassurance.

Right at the end of the session a young girl came up to me, I was told there were children from all over the world in this school - including Afghanistan.

She wanted to tell me her story and I was so impressed, firstly with her incredible English and secondly the confidence to speak up.

I said she had a super power of being brave - GRL PWR!
