We welcomed Nailya Nailya Talip from Tatarstan for a hands-on workshop dedicated to Zur Balish — the traditional stuffed pie of Tatar cuisine.
Over 2 hours we prepared the dough and filling, shaped the zur belish with its signature central opening, and baked it slowly until golden. Nailya also presented her book on Tatar traditions, sharing stories and knowledge from her culture. With the leftover dough, we made micro cinnamon rolls — a sweet way to end the gathering.
Nailya also brought tea from Tatarstan, which we all tried together — because in Tatar tradition, tea is drunk all the time, even in hot weather!
The result was a perfect blend of Tatar tradition and the practice of shared cooking.
People learned, cooked and shared a meal together.
Thank you to everyone who came!
