It is my absolute pleasure to announce that the 2nd Regional Selection Conference of EYP Portugal 2023/2024 will take place in the wonderful city of Setúbal.
Setúbal is a vibrant city on the coast of Portugal just under 50km south of Portugal’s capital, Lisbon. This city has always been an immensely relevant city due to its long-lasting legacy of being one of the most important commercial ports in the country, establishing a connecting link between the Old Continent and what lies beyond the Atlantic. Setúbal is also where the river Sado finally meets the sea, resulting in the beautiful Sado Estuary - the home of countless marine species, including the famed local Bottlenose Dolphins.
It has always been my goal to have Setúbal as the host city for this event because it is not only my hometown but also a city that has been booming with new initiatives, especially related to sustainability, local development, and youth engagement.
I am both extremely honored as well as proud to be able to bring an EYP event to the place I come from, as well as to the young people from my region that unfortunately, have not usually been granted the opportunity to experience EYP sessions.
See you in Setúbal very soon,
Francisco Moura
