The main why we created Portic was due to the need to make Portuguese business people aware that the foundation to their companies should be internationalization. Executives should be aware that company growth as well as sustainability has as one of its main ingredients internationalization. The dimension of the Portuguese market is minute, and anyone who wishes to have a competitive business cann
ot remain in the comfort of its geographical area or city. Therefore, Portuguese companies should be able take advantage of internationalization and propel their company into the international markets. In our days there is no excuse for this not to be done: communication and transportations are widely available, especially now where we have access to cheap flights as well as advanced communication technologies such as videoconferences, conference calls (skype, MSN, Google talk), email, etc. We have Portuguese Companies which meet, in the same week, with American partners, cooperate with Spanish suppliers “in loco”, work with East European governments and Scandinavian clients, as for example: GlinttHS, Strongstep – Innovation in Software Quality, OPT, Nvia, Ambisig, Wad software, etc. Some of the companies in our region have international clients, and work with daily, providing them services and innovative products. But that’s also true for the opposite…
Yes, of course. Portic was created to foster and understand success as well as failure stories of technological companies. It was also created to generate debate spaces, idea exchange, networking, through international events in Portugal or in strategic locations. This happens with the objective of allowing Portuguese exportation to increase. These events allow the companies to become even more international in clientele as well as relationships. We believe that some of the companies of Portic’s club will be great local economic dynamisares and which will leverage smaller businesses and accompany them in their international routes.
