Dr. Ijeoma Ejekam-Idaresit was born on the 6th of January (1984). She, therefore, shares the same birthday with her late grandfather, the distinguished and much loved Professor O.k Ogan, Doyen of Obstetrics/Gynaecology (O & G) {6th of January 1919}. She was inspired to do Medicine by his legacy of love and healing.
Prof. O.K Ogan established the Department of Obstetrics/Gynaecology (O & G), College of Medicine, University of Nigeria. Before that date, none existed. In his honour, the College of Medicine holds a series of memorial lectures. At these memorial lectures, the family, usually donates a prize for the best student in Obstetrics/Gynaecology. This year, the best student in Obstetrics/Gynaecology was Miss Sonia Chinekwu Ogwudu.
This year, Dr. Ijeoma Ejekam-Idaresit Memorial Foundation (IDR Memorial) Foundation donated the prize to the best student in Obstetrics/Gynaecology.
On the impact of the award, Miss Sonia Ogwudu, in a message to Chief Mrs. Nnenna Ejekam, said: “I wish to inform you that our final result has been released and I made another Distinction.
“This award has been a great source of encouragement to me and to the glory of God, I got another Distinction.
“God bless you, Ma, for all you do and God bless the Foundation.’'
