to encourage the publication and distribution of quality children's books, especially in developing countries
to provide support and training for those involved with children and children's literature
to stimulate research and scholarly works in the field of children's literature

Membership includes authors and illustrators, publishers and editors, translators, journalists and critics, teachers, university professors and students, librarians and booksellers, social workers and parents. PBBY's different activities are related to face the consequences of the loss of Palestinian children rights, due to long years of oppressive occupation, mostly their right to books and education. Thus PBBY supports literacy and children culture, and encourages reading and the promotion of quality of books in Palestine.
