Al-Waleed Charity and IOM Deliver Urgent Winter Assistance to 1,576 Vulnerable Households in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis

Khan Younis, Palestine – 19 September 2026: Al-Waleed Charitable Association, in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), has implemented an urgent humanitarian intervention targeting 1,576 households headed by or caring for older persons in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis Governorate.

The intervention prioritized households facing heightened vulnerability and severe socio-economic hardship, including families with persons with disabilities, low-income households, and families experiencing urgent humanitarian and basic needs.

As part of the response, winter clothing packages specifically tailored for older persons were distributed to beneficiary households. The assistance aims to help vulnerable older people cope with harsh weather conditions, improve their living conditions, and uphold their dignity, particularly amid ongoing displacement and extremely challenging humanitarian circumstances in Al-Mawasi.

The intervention comes amid continued and growing humanitarian needs among displaced and conflict-affected families across the Gaza Strip. Many households continue to face significant challenges in accessing essential goods and basic necessities, including appropriate winter clothing and other seasonal items.

Al-Waleed Charity and IOM Deliver Urgent Humanitarian Assistance to the Most Vulnerable Families in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis

Khan Younis, Palestine: Al-Waleed Charitable Association, in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), implemented an urgent humanitarian response targeting the most vulnerable and severely affected families in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis Governorate, as part of the emergency response efforts in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

The intervention reached 1,282 households facing severe humanitarian and socio-economic challenges. Priority was given to households identified as particularly vulnerable, including female-headed households, families who have lost a primary breadwinner, persons with disabilities, low-income households, and families with urgent humanitarian needs.

As part of the response, essential non-food items were distributed to support households in improving their living and shelter conditions. Each beneficiary household received a package consisting of:

- 3 sleeping mattresses
- 3 sleeping mats
- 2 water jerry cans, 10 liters each
- 1 water bucket, 14 liters
- 5 packs of infant diapers, covering the 0–3 months and 3–6 months age groups

This intervention comes amid continued and growing humanitarian needs among displaced and conflict-affected families across the Gaza Strip, particularly in Al-Mawasi, where large numbers of displaced households continue to face extremely difficult living conditions and limited access to essential basic necessities.

Al-Waleed Charity Continues Implementing a UNICEF-Funded Hygiene Supplies Distribution Project for Displaced Families

Supporting Dignity, Health, and Protection for Vulnerable Displaced Households

Al-Waleed Charity, an active partner within the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Cluster, continues to implement a UNICEF-funded project to distribute essential hygiene supplies to displaced families in the Al-Mawasi areas of Khan Younis and Rafah Governorates.

This humanitarian intervention forms part of the ongoing efforts to improve health and environmental conditions, address urgent humanitarian needs, and mitigate health risks among displaced populations living in challenging conditions.

The project targeted 1,000 displaced families, benefiting approximately 6,000 individuals from the most vulnerable and underserved groups across displacement camps and gatherings in Khan Younis and Rafah Governorates.

Scope of Intervention

As part of this phase, Al-Waleed Charity distributed essential hygiene supplies, including:

- Adult diapers for older persons and persons with disabilities.

The intervention reached displaced families in camps and gatherings across Khan Younis Governorate, supporting vulnerable households and promoting dignity, well-being, and improved living conditions amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

Beneficiary Reach

A total of 1,000 displaced families benefited from this phase of the project, contributing to the alleviation of urgent humanitarian needs and strengthening support for households facing heightened vulnerabilities.

Through this intervention, Al-Waleed Charity continues to address critical needs among displaced populations, with a particular focus on older persons and persons with disabilities.

Upcoming Phase

Building on the achievements of the current phase, Al-Waleed Charity is preparing to implement a new phase of the project, which will include:

- Reaching more than 10 additional displacement camps and gatherings.
- Providing essential humanitarian assistance to approximately 5,000 additional displaced families.

The upcoming phase reflects the association’s continued commitment to expanding humanitarian assistance and reaching communities facing the greatest needs.

جمعية الوليد الخيرية و(IOM) تنفذان استجابة عاجلة للأسر الأشد احتياجًا في مواصي خان يونس

خان يونس – فلسطين: نفذت جمعية الوليد الخيرية، بالشراكة مع المنظمة الدولية للهجرة (IOM)، تدخلًا إنسانيًا عاجلًا استهدف الأسر الأشد احتياجًا والأكثر هشاشة في منطقة المواصي بمحافظة خان يونس، وذلك ضمن مشروع الاستجابة العاجلة في الأرض الفلسطينية المحتلة.

واستفادت من التدخل 276 أسرة من الأسر التي تواجه ظروفًا إنسانية ومعيشية صعبة، حيث جرى التركيز على الفئات الأكثر هشاشة، بما في ذلك النساء المعيلات لأسرهن، والأسر التي فقدت أحد معيلِيها، والأشخاص ذوو الإعاقة، والأسر محدودة الدخل والأكثر احتياجًا للمساعدة الإنسانية.

وشملت الاستجابة توزيع حزم من المواد الأساسية التي تساعد الأسر المستفيدة على تحسين ظروف المأوى والمعيشة، حيث تضمنت الحزمة الواحدة فرشتين، وحصيرتين، وقربتي مياه بسعة 10 لترات لكل منهما، وحرامتين.

جمعية الوليد تنفذ تدخلاً إنسانياً متكاملاً لدعم الأسر النازحة في مواصي خان يونس

في إطار جهودها الإنسانية الرامية إلى الاستجابة للاحتياجات المتزايدة للأسر النازحة وتعزيز قدرتها على مواجهة الظروف المعيشية الصعبة، نفذت جمعية الوليد الخيرية، بالشراكة مع المنظمة الدولية للهجرة (IOM)، تدخلاً إنسانياً متكاملاً لتوزيع مجموعة من مستلزمات الإيواء والمياه والنظافة على الأسر النازحة والأكثر هشاشة في منطقة مواصي خان يونس، شرق منطقة العطار.

استفادت من هذا التدخل 497 أسرة نازحة، حيث تم توزيع مجموعة من المواد الأساسية التي تلبي الاحتياجات اليومية للأسر، مع إعطاء أولوية خاصة للعائلات التي تضم أطفالاً ورضعاً، بما يساهم في تحسين ظروفها المعيشية وتعزيز قدرتها على مواجهة تحديات النزوح.

وشملت المساعدات الموزعة حفاضات للأطفال والرضع للفئات العمرية من 0–3 أشهر ومن 3–6 أشهر، وبطانيات (حرامات)، وجرادل بسعة 14 لتراً، إضافة إلى مجموعة من مستلزمات المياه والنظافة الأساسية.

وانطلاقاً من عضويتها الفاعلة في قطاع المياه والإصحاح والنظافة (WASH)، حرصت جمعية الوليد على دمج احتياجات المياه والنظافة ضمن هذا التدخل، حيث شملت المواد مسحوق الغسيل، وأكياس النايلون، وأقراص الكلور المستخدمة في معالجة مياه الشرب. ويهدف ذلك إلى دعم الأسر النازحة في الحفاظ على ممارسات النظافة الشخصية والمنزلية، وتعزيز سلامة المياه، والحد من المخاطر الصحية والبيئية المرتبطة بظروف النزوح والاكتظاظ.

الإشراف والمتابعة والتقييم الميداني

وضمن جهود ضمان جودة تنفيذ التدخلات الإنسانية وتعزيز آليات المتابعة والتقييم والمساءلة، رافق عملية التوزيع منسق خط الإمداد والأنابيب، كيلي هيلتون، الذي أجرى زيارة ميدانية للاطلاع على سير عملية توزيع المساعدات ومتابعة وصولها إلى الأسر المستهدفة، وفق المعايير والإجراءات المعتمدة.

وشملت الزيارة جولة ميدانية على عدد من المواقع المستهدفة في منطقة التدخل، حيث تم الاطلاع عن قرب على الظروف المعيشية للأسر النازحة، وتقييم احتياجاتها الإنسانية، والاستماع إلى ملاحظات المستفيدين والتعرف على أبرز التحديات والأولويات التي تواجههم.

كما أتاحت الزيارات الميدانية فرصة مهمة لتحديد الاحتياجات الفعلية للأسر النازحة والمواقع المستهدفة، بما يدعم عملية التخطيط للتدخلات المستقبلية ويوجه الموارد والمساعدات نحو الأولويات الأكثر إلحاحاً، ويعزز فاعلية وجودة الاستجابة الإنسانية على أرض الواقع.

As part of its humanitarian efforts to respond to the growing needs of displaced families and strengthen their ability to cope with difficult living conditions, Al-Waleed Charitable Association, in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), implemented an integrated humanitarian intervention to distribute essential shelter, water, and hygiene supplies to displaced and highly vulnerable families in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, east of Al-Attar area.

A total of 497 displaced families benefited from the intervention. A range of essential items addressing daily household needs was distributed, with particular attention given to families with children and infants, contributing to improved living conditions and strengthening their ability to cope with the challenges of displacement.

The assistance included diapers for infants aged 0–3 months and 3–6 months, blankets, and 14-liter buckets, in addition to a range of essential water, sanitation, and hygiene supplies.

As an active member of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Sector, Al-Waleed Charitable Association ensured that water and hygiene needs were integrated into the intervention. Distributed items included laundry detergent, nylon bags, and chlorine tablets for drinking-water treatment. These supplies aim to support displaced families in maintaining personal and household hygiene practices, improving water safety, and reducing health and environmental risks associated with displacement and overcrowded living conditions.

Field Monitoring, Follow-up and Evaluation

As part of efforts to ensure the quality of humanitarian interventions and strengthen monitoring, evaluation, and accountability mechanisms, the distribution was accompanied by a field visit from Supply and Pipeline Coordinator Kelly Hilton, who observed the distribution process and followed up on the delivery of assistance to targeted families in accordance with established standards and procedures.

The visit also included a field tour of several targeted sites within the intervention area. During the visits, the team assessed the living conditions of displaced families, reviewed their humanitarian needs, and listened to beneficiaries’ feedback while identifying the main challenges and priorities facing them.

The field visits also provided an important opportunity to identify the actual needs of displaced families and targeted sites, supporting the planning of future interventions and helping direct resources and assistance toward the most urgent priorities. This contributes to strengthening the effectiveness and quality of the humanitarian response on the ground.

This intervention reflects Al-Waleed Charitable Association’s commitment to an integrated humanitarian response approach and to directing assistance toward the most urgent needs of affected and vulnerable populations, contributing to improved living conditions and enhanced resilience among displaced families.

جمعية الوليد الخيرية تنفذ حملة استجابة طارئة لتأمين مياه شرب آمنة في مواصي خان يونس

في إطار جهودها الإنسانية والاستجابة للاحتياجات الطارئة للنازحين، وبصفتها عضواً فاعلاً ضمن مجموعة العمل الهيدروليكية في قطاع المياه والإصحاح البيئي (WASH)، نفذت جمعية الوليد الخيرية حملة استجابة طارئة لتوزيع أقراص الكلور المخصصة لتنقية مياه الشرب في مخيمات ومراكز الإيواء بمنطقة مواصي خان يونس، بدعم كريم من منظمة الأمم المتحدة للطفولة (اليونيسف).

وتأتي هذه الحملة ضمن جهود الاستجابة والتنسيق المشترك لقطاع WASH، بهدف تعزيز سلامة مياه الشرب والحد من مخاطر التلوث والأمراض المنقولة بالمياه، بما يسهم في حماية الأسر النازحة، ولا سيما الأطفال وكبار السن والفئات الأكثر هشاشة.

أبرز محاور التدخل الميداني

توزيع مستلزمات تنقية المياه:
توزيع أقراص الكلور المعتمدة لتنقية مياه الشرب على الأسر النازحة في المخيمات ومراكز الإيواء، إلى جانب توفير عبوات وجالونات مناسبة لحفظ المياه بصورة آمنة.

فحص ومتابعة جودة المياه:
تنفيذ أنشطة ميدانية لمراقبة جودة المياه وقياس مؤشرات التلوث، إلى جانب متابعة مصادر المياه المحلية ومحطات الضخ والآبار التي تغذي مناطق تجمع النازحين.

التوعية والإرشاد الصحي:
تنفيذ جلسات وجولات توعوية ميدانية للأسر المستفيدة حول الاستخدام الآمن والصحيح لأقراص الكلور، وطرق حفظ المياه ومنع إعادة تلوثها بعد التعقيم.

التوعية بالاستخدام الآمن للكلور

ركزت الفرق الميدانية خلال أنشطة التوعية على أهمية الالتزام بالجرعة وطريقة الاستخدام الموضحة على عبوة المنتج وتعليمات الجهة الصحية المختصة، مع التأكيد على ضرورة الانتظار للمدة المحددة قبل استخدام المياه للشرب، وحفظ المياه في أوعية نظيفة ومحكمة الإغلاق بعيداً عن مصادر التلوث.

كما شملت التوعية إرشادات عملية حول المحافظة على نظافة أوعية التخزين، والحد من تعرض المياه للغبار والحشرات، بما يساهم في تقليل احتمالية إعادة تلوثها داخل أماكن الإيواء.

جمعية الوليد الخيرية - Al-Waleed Charity Association Implements Emergency Response Campaign to Ensure Safe Drinking Water in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis

As part of its humanitarian efforts and emergency response to the urgent needs of displaced communities, and as an active member of the WASH Sector Hydraulic Working Group, Al-Waleed Charitable Association has implemented an emergency response campaign to distribute water purification chlorine tablets to displaced families in camps and collective shelters across Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis. The intervention was generously supported by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

The campaign forms part of the coordinated WASH response, aiming to improve the safety of drinking water, reduce the risks associated with water contamination, and prevent waterborne diseases, particularly among children, older persons, and other vulnerable groups.

Key Field Intervention Components

Distribution of Water Treatment Supplies:
Chlorine tablets approved for drinking-water treatment were distributed to displaced households in camps and collective shelters, together with suitable containers and jerrycans to support safe water storage.

Water Quality Monitoring and Follow-up:
Field activities were conducted to monitor water quality and assess potential contamination, alongside monitoring local water sources, pumping stations, and wells supplying displaced communities.

Health Awareness and Hygiene Promotion:
Field teams conducted awareness sessions and outreach visits for beneficiary households, providing practical guidance on the safe and correct use of chlorine tablets, proper water storage, and measures to prevent recontamination after treatment.

Awareness on Safe Chlorine Use

As part of the awareness activities, field teams emphasized the importance of following the dosage, preparation method, and instructions provided on the product packaging and by relevant health authorities. Beneficiaries were also advised to observe the recommended contact time before using treated water for drinking and to store water in clean, tightly covered containers away from potential sources of contamination.

The awareness sessions also addressed the importance of keeping water-storage containers clean and protecting stored water from dust, insects, and other contaminants, thereby reducing the risk of recontamination within displacement settings.

جمعية الوليد توزع مستلزمات الإيواء وتدعم احتياجات المياه والنظافة للأسر النازحة في مواصي خان يونس

في إطار جهودها الإنسانية الرامية إلى دعم الأسر النازحة وتحسين ظروفها المعيشية، قامت جمعية الوليد، بالشراكة مع المنظمة الدولية للهجرة (IOM)، بتوزيع مستلزمات الإيواء على الأسر النازحة في منطقة مواصي خان يونس.

وشملت عملية التوزيع الأسر النازحة في مخيم السلام – قاطع D ومخيم أرض البردويل، حيث استفادت من المساعدات 289 أسرة نازحة.

وتضمنت المساعدات مستلزمات أساسية للأطفال والرضع، من بينها حفاضات (بمبرز) للفئة العمرية من 0 إلى 3 أشهر، وحفاضات للفئة العمرية من 3 إلى 6 أشهر، بما يسهم في تلبية الاحتياجات الأساسية للأسر النازحة، ولا سيما الأسر التي تضم أطفالًا ورضعًا.

كما تؤكد جمعية الوليد أنها عضو نشط في قطاع المياه والنظافة (WASH)، حيث حرصت على إدراج عدد من مستلزمات المياه والنظافة ضمن تدخلاتها الإنسانية، بما في ذلك مسحوق الغسيل، وأكياس النايلون، وأقراص الكلور المستخدمة لتنقية المياه، وذلك بهدف المساهمة في تعزيز النظافة العامة ودعم الأسر في الحصول على مياه أكثر أمانًا، والحد من المخاطر الصحية المرتبطة بظروف النزوح.

وتؤكد الجمعية استمرارها في تنفيذ التدخلات الإنسانية والاستجابة للاحتياجات المتزايدة للأسر النازحة، بالتعاون مع الشركاء والجهات الداعمة، والعمل على توفير المساعدات الأساسية التي تسهم في تحسين الظروف المعيشية وتعزيز صمود المجتمعات المتضررة.

وتتقدم جمعية الوليد بالشكر والتقدير إلى المنظمة الدولية للهجرة (IOM) على دعمها وشراكتها في تنفيذ هذه المبادرة الإنسانية.

Al-Waleed Association Distributes Shelter Supplies and Supports WASH Needs for Displaced Families in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis
As part of its humanitarian efforts to support displaced families and improve their living conditions, Al-Waleed Association, in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), distributed shelter supplies to displaced families in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis.
The distribution covered displaced families in Al-Salam (D) and Al-Bardawil Land Camp, benefiting a total of 289 displaced families.
The assistance included essential supplies for children and infants, including diapers for infants aged 0–3 months and diapers for infants aged 3–6 months, helping to meet the basic needs of displaced families, particularly those with children and infants.
Al-Waleed Association also reaffirms that it is an active member of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector. As part of its humanitarian interventions, the Association has included a range of water, sanitation and hygiene supplies, including laundry detergent, nylon bags, and chlorine tablets for water purification. These interventions aim to promote hygiene, support families in accessing safer water, and reduce health risks associated with displacement conditions.
The Association reaffirms its commitment to continuing humanitarian interventions and responding to the growing needs of displaced families, in cooperation with partners and supporting organizations. It remains dedicated to providing essential assistance that contributes to improving living conditions and strengthening the resilience of affected communities.
