This is Camila, one of our longest residents.

She’s an adventurous dog who LOVES walks, hikes, the beach, and road trips! She’s happiest when she gets to be out exploring and enjoying life with her person.

Camila is looking for a solo-dog household. She can also experience anxiety when left alone and the noise of shelter life can be overwhelming for her. She needs an understanding home that will give her patience, reassurance, and love.

She has spent years waiting for her chance, watching other dogs find their homes while she stays behind.

We believe Camila’s person is out there.

If you’re interested in adopting or fostering Camila, please reach out to ADLA to learn more about her!

Day 2 of Diego’s foster, and you can just tell he is loving every second of it!

From a shelter bed to a quiet, cozy spot of his own, Diego is getting the chance to relax, decompress, and simply be a dog.

This is exactly why fosters matter. A temporary home can give a dog the comfort and confidence they need while they wait for their forever family.

WE ARE IN NEED OF NEWSPAPER!

Our supply is completely gone, and our dogs go through a LOT of newspaper every day for crate lining, potty training, and keeping their spaces clean and dry.

We specifically need full sheets of regular, non-glossy newspaper. Glossy paper, flyers, magazines, shredded paper, and printer paper won’t work because they don’t absorb moisture properly.

Have newspapers to donate? We’d be incredibly grateful! Even a small stack helps.

Diego Is Out for FOSTER!

Diego is officially out for foster! After a fun day of meeting new people and getting out for some walks, one of our amazing volunteers decided to open their home to him for a short-term foster!

We’re hoping Diego inspires more of you to consider fostering, too! Whether you can open your home for a day, a week, a month, or longer, every bit of time makes a difference. You can foster for as little or as long as works for you.

Interested in giving a dog a break from shelter life? Send us a DM to learn more about fostering!

Elliot is currently in FOSTER! we’re hopeful that this change of environment will give him the opportunity to decompress, build confidence, and have positive experiences with other dogs.

We love seeing our volunteers step up for our dogs! whether it’s taking them for a walk, spending time with them, or opening their homes to foster, even for the dogs who need a little extra patience.

Fostering gives dogs like Elliot the space to grow outside of the shelter, while giving us a better understanding of what they need to thrive.

Thank you to Emily, Elliot’s foster, for giving him and many more, that chance!

Could you be the temporary(or permanent!) home a dog needs? Our foster campaign is ongoing, and we’re looking for people willing to open their homes and give our dogs a chance to experience life outside the shelter.

If you’re interested in fostering, send us a message to learn more!

Carolina has been ADOPTED!

She now has another furry friend and two loving parents to keep her company. After spending time with us, Carolina finally has a family to call her own, and we couldn’t be happier!

She went from being a volunteers favorite, to stealing the hearts of two volunteers who came in for a walk with her, and the rest is history.

If you’ve been thinking about adding a dog to your family, maybe your best friend is waiting for you at ADLA!

And if you’re not quite ready for the commitment of adoption, we’re currently running our Foster Campaign. Opening your home temporarily can still change a dog’s life.

PUPPY FOSTERS NEEDED!

While we’re on the work-outs to move, we need temporary (or permanent!) homes for our puppies!

Our puppies need a safe place to grow, play, and get the attention they deserve while we work through this transition. Fostering can be for a short period or longer-term, depending on what works for you!

We provide the essentials, You provide the home.

If you can open your home, send us a message!

Our dogs have very different play styles.

Some prefer hard chew toys. Others will immediately grab a stuffie, work on an interactive toy, or spend their time playing with anything they can get their paws on.

And then there are the dogs who have absolutely no interest in toys. They would much rather find a friend and spend their time roughhousing!

It’s always interesting to see what each dog chooses when they play. Some need a toy, some need a challenge, and some just need another dog who can keep up with them.

Charlie doesn’t stay behind for an adventure!

As much as we’d love to be able to take all of our dogs out every day, sometimes there’s only one lucky winner. Today, Charlie got to be that dog!

He enjoyed a nice solo outing with one of our caretakers, where he got to take in the beach, and enjoy some time away from the shelter. These breaks give our dogs the chance to experience things outside of their usual routine.

We’d love to give more of our dogs days like this.
