Who gets to speak? Who gets heard? And who is still missing from the table? 🗣️

Through “Voices from the Peripheries”, the Human Rights Cafè created space to challenge narratives and amplify voices too often overlooked. ☕️

To every participant: thank you for your honesty, your courage, and your willingness to engage. This space exists because of you. ✨

To every team leader: thank you for your work, your dedication and your passion. Without each of you this would still be an idea in a drawer (or rather an email inbox). 💌

To every volunteer: thanks again for you participation, your engagement and your help in the organization of this event. Each one of you was fundamental for the success of these events and we are super proud of this team. 💪🏻

As this transnational chapter closes, the responsibility continues, with all of us. 👥

Listen deeper. Speak louder.

New article alert!🌍
Check out our blog to read 's new article "Restrictions on the Right to Protest in Switzerland: a Deterrence Mechanism".

Protesting has long been one of the most powerful ways for people to defend and advance
human rights, bringing together individuals from different backgrounds in pursuit of shared
justice and goals. However, in recent years, the rise of authoritarian tendencies and increasing legal restrictions have made it more difficult for
people to exercise this fundamental right. Check out our new article to find out more about the situation in Switzerland. 🇨🇭✊️

A moment to remember that the health of the planet and our own are deeply connected.
The choices we make every day matter: what we buy, what we eat, how we move around.
Let’s take care of the Earth. Every day, not just today.

Every year, millions of people are forced to leave their homes; not by choice, but by floods, droughts, and rising seas. Climate change is not a distant threat. For many, it is already a reality that uproots lives, separates families, and strips people of the most basic human right: a place to call home.

This April, we turn our attention to climate migration, one of the greatest humanitarian challenges of our time. Because behind every statistic, there is a person. And every person deserves to be seen. 🌿

Human Rights Café is back in 2026 with a new edition dedicated to human rights and democracy in Europe’s peripheral regions ✨

📍 Our seventh in-person session will take place in Leipzig on 10th of April, from 15:00 to 18:30 (CET) at the Juristenfakultät (Burgstraße 21, 04109 Leipzig)

This year’s theme, “Voices from the Peripheries”, invites us to reflect on how being geographically, socially, or politically distant from major centres of power can shape which voices are heard — and which often remain overlooked 🗺️🗣️

Students, researchers, professionals and anyone interested are welcome. The goal is simple: create an informal space to talk about human rights, exchange ideas and perspectives, and open up meaningful conversations beyond the usual academic setting 💬🤝

Grab a coffee or tea and join the discussion ☕🍵
Let’s talk about human rights and democracy in contemporary Europe — together 🌍✨🫶

What happens when a bunch of students get together to talk about migration, populism and environmental justice ? 🌍

At the latest Human Rights Café in Leipzig, we shared ideas, different perspectives, and a lot of questions about the state of democracy today. 🗣️

This article is a small recap of that conversation — and a reminder of why these spaces really matter. Read it on our blog.
