Our member, Helena Czerniak, took part in a voyage aboard the sailing vessel
"Kapitan Borchardt," the oldest tall ship flying the Polish flag, with its homeport in Szczecin.
The voyage was organized by the Rotary Club Gdańsk Sopot Gdynia, featuring a crew drawn not only from Polish Rotary clubs, but also from Germany and Italy.
Despite a wide age gap
(spanning at least six decades between the youngest and oldest crew members), the team bonded and seamlessly meshed, ensuring every single day wrapped up at sunrise with a vibrant atmosphere and new memories.
The route covered the final leg of The Tall Ships Races, spanning 47.5 nautical miles.
Following earlier technical issues aboard the vessel, the voyage set sail from the port of Kristiansand, made a stop in Arendal, Norway, and concluded in Aalborg, Denmark, for the final event of the regatta. There, after a few more days spent together representing both Rotary and "Kapitan Borchardt," everyone shared a poignant farewell and are already looking forward to the next adventure!
