Community Appraisal and Motivation Programme (CAMP) is a national non-profit and non-governmental organisation established and registered in May 2002, under the Societies Act of 1860 (Registration No. 192/5/2946). We work with some of the most underprivileged communities in Pakistan; responding to emergencies, improving access to quality health and education, creating livelihood opportunities and

working closely with communities and government departments to promote human rights, peace and security. Our approach is based on developing close cooperation with local communities and relevant stakeholders from the start, and relies on detailed assessments to identify and prioritise needs of communities we work with. We are committed to improving the health indicators for communities, while addressing the underlying causes: poverty and poor nutrition; limited access to clean water and sanitation; little or no understanding of basic health and hygiene; high levels of endemic disease; gender inequity; and access to resources within the public health system (infrastructure, equipment, personnel and drugs).

It was heartening to hear about CAMP's health services from two Lady Health Workers (LHWs), who are involved in the Government’s polio eradication campaign in Sarwane village, district Charsadda.

According to the LHWs, "Women in (our) community really appreciate CAMP’s services. We have noticed positive changes in their lives due to psychosocial counselling, as well as improved health and hygiene practices."

The LHWs received free medical consultations from CAMP's doctors and requested the team to visit their village as well! We are proud of our teams for reaching out to flood- affected communities with essential health services, and thankful to Aktion Deutschland Hilft (ADH) and Help - Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe for supporting the project.

On May 12th, renowned human rights activist and former Ombudsperson KP for Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace, Ms. Rukhshanda Naz, visited CAMP's Peshawar office to share vital information on Pakistan's legal frameworks, including the right to inheritance, gender-based violence, child marriages, and family laws. She also gave guidance on reporting procedures.

The session not only increased our team's understanding of these issues, but also the ability to support and advocate for the rights of individuals and communities.

CAMP is thankful to Ms. Rukhshanda Naz for her time and commitment!

"This is the first time an NGO has provided such relief, and I wish they would visit us again..." (Shaista from Shabara, Charsadda district)

Our mobile health teams continue to reach out to women like Shaista, and their children, in the flood affected villages of Nowshera and Charsadda districts. Last week, over 500 women and children received medical consultations and free medicines, while more than 300 pregnant women and new mothers benefited from nutrition packages. Our team also provided essential information on health and hygiene and gave psychosocial support to more than 450 women.

The project, Supporting Maternal and Child Healthcare with Dignity in Flood-affected Regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, will benefit more than 27,000 women and children, and is funded by Aktion Deutschland Hilft through Help - Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe.

May God grant you and your family joy and prosperity throughout this blessed day. We hope Allah bestows His blessings and mercy on each one of us.

While we celebrate Eid let us not forget those affected by conflict, violence and injustice. Through our shared prayers and actions let us establish peace and harmony together with understanding. Our goal should be to serve as symbols of hope and kindness while demonstrating compassion during these difficult times.

I hope your Eid celebration includes many joyful moments surrounded by family and friends.

In line with the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Dengue Action Plan 2025 "aimed to ensure early preventive measures to mitigate the outbreak and protect public health"; CAMP's mobile health teams continue to provide medical consultations and health and hygiene awareness to communities in flood affected villages of Charsadda and Nowshera districts. Both these districts recorded some of the highest cases of dengue fever in 2024.

CAMP's project 'Supporting Maternal and Child Healthcare with Dignity in Flood-affected Regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province' is expected to benefit over 30,000 women and children. The project is generously funded by Aktion Deutschland Hilft through Help - Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe.

Women and children affected by the floods continue to rebuild their lives and are always thankful for the support they receive from CAMP, whether it is in the form of hygiene kits or nutrition packages, medical advice, or psychosocial support.

In the words of a community member from Nowshera district: "I am grateful to CAMP organization for helping us during these challenging times. Your team's support has been a beacon of hope during these difficult days. The psycho-socio counseling has been so helpful. Before these sessions, I experienced significant stress following the summer floods. However, after participating in these sessions, I feel confident and happy. I would like to request that your team continue to make frequent visits to our community."

The project "Supporting Maternal and Child Healthcare with Dignity in Flood-affected Regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa," is supported by Aktion Deutschland Hilft through Help - Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe.
