Bint-e-Fatima Foundation is the only shelter offering services to elderly women survivors of neglect, orphanhood, and gender-based violence in Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore. Established in January 2008 and registered with the Government of Pakistan, the organization began as a small charity at home. Founder Mrs. Farzana Shoaib took in her 73-year-old neighbor, Ms. Fatima, who was found alone and

unconscious with no one to care for her. Fatima lived with Mrs. Shoaib for 5 years, passing away peacefully and inspiring a movement. Bint-e-Fatima was named in her honor, and from humble beginnings, it has grown to provide a home for over 200 elderly women in Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore. These women, once pillars of society as doctors, teachers, and mothers, now find shelter and care due to neglect or abandonment. In recognition of her outstanding services, Mrs. Farzana Shoaib was honored with The National Peace Award in 2019 by the Government of Pakistan, presented by Honourable President Dr. Arif Ur Rehman Alvi and Mr. Moulana Syed Abdul Khabir Azad, Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Pakistan. She further received the International Peace Award in 2023 and the prestigious Sitar-e-Imtiaz in 2024, presented by President Muhammad Asif Ali Zardari.
