A New Hope for the Youth of Sindh — The Story Behind Indus Youth's Free Python & Basic Artificial Intelligence (AI) Course
The youth of Sindh possess immense talent and potential, yet they often lack access to opportunities. Whenever they are given a chance to learn, grow, and prove themselves, they amaze everyone with their abilities. It was this realization that inspired Indus Youth Welfare Organization to launch a Free Python and Basic Artificial Intelligence (AI) Course.
Since our inception, we have been committed to serving society. Our sincere desire has always been to create positive change within our capacity. Throughout this journey, we have learned that when one's intentions are genuine, Allah blesses them with like-minded, dedicated, and hardworking people who play a vital role in turning dreams into reality.
Today, after completing six weeks of our Free Python and Basic AI Course, we would like to share our experiences, reflections, and outcomes. Many friends have asked us how this initiative began and what we achieved through it.
At the end of May 2026, schools closed for the Eid holidays. During this break, we thought: Why not use these holidays to invest in the future of our youth?
Around the same time, I was in regular contact with Ali Mangan, Vice President of Indus Youth Welfare Organization, who is currently pursuing his Master's degree in Germany. As he shared stories about German universities, their educational environment, innovative mindset, and advanced technology, it became increasingly clear how far behind we still are compared to the developed world.
Ali often says:
"Brother, in the past, the most powerful nation was the one with the strongest economy. Today, true power belongs to the nation that leads in technology."
These words were more than just a statement—they became a sense of responsibility for us.
Today, Pakistan has approximately 244 universities, producing over 445,000 graduates every year. Among them, nearly 25,000 graduate in Information Technology and Engineering. Unfortunately, only about 20% possess the practical skills required by the job market. The primary reason is that our education system has not kept pace with the rapidly changing world. While the world is moving toward Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation, and emerging technologies, many of our educational institutions continue to rely on outdated curricula.
In such circumstances, equipping young people with future-ready skills becomes our collective responsibility.
After consulting with our team members, Indus Youth Welfare Organization decided to organize a Free Python and Basic AI Course during the June–July vacation.
The course was taught by our volunteer instructors Sanaullah Abbasi (Bachelor of Computer Science, University of Sindh) and Jitendra Kumar Suthar (Computer Science Graduate, IBA Sukkur). Administrative responsibilities were managed by Ali Raza Tunio, while I supervised the overall program.
However, the biggest questions were:
Where would we conduct the classes? Where would we get laptops?
As the saying goes:
> "Where there's a will, there's a way."
Allah opened doors for us in ways we had never imagined.
Mr. Altaf Mahesar, CEO of BASIC Development Foundation, generously provided 10 laptops for the course.
Soon after, Mr. Muhammad Hashim Kandhro warmly opened the doors of Sindh Grammar Public High School, Mir Colony, Tandojam, simply saying:
"You are most welcome, my son."
We will always remain grateful for the generosity and trust shown by both of these remarkable individuals.
Initially, we expected only 15–20 students and planned to conduct two small batches. However, when registrations opened, we received more than 230 applications.
After a written test and interviews, limited resources allowed us to select only 32 students. Every selected participant was hardworking, talented, and eager to learn. Throughout the six-week course, we maintained an impressive 95% attendance rate, reflecting the students' commitment, discipline, and enthusiasm.
At the end of the course, students were divided into groups and assigned practical software development projects. After only six weeks of training, the projects they developed exceeded all our expectations.
Their projects included:
* School Management System
* Personal Expense Tracking System
* Volunteer Management System
* Smart Blood Donation Application
* Banking Management System
* Camera-based Vehicle Speed and Information Recognition System
* Offline Messaging System (without Internet)
We will soon be sharing demonstration videos of these projects.
Yet, perhaps the most important part of this journey was the 200+ young people who could not be admitted because of our limited capacity. Every application represented a dream, but unfortunately we could not provide an opportunity to everyone.
These young people taught us an important lesson:
"Sindh does not lack youth who want to learn; it lacks opportunities."
This realization inspired us to take an even bigger step.
We have now committed ourselves to building a modern online learning platform, where every young man and woman can learn Python, Artificial Intelligence, and other in-demand professional skills from the comfort of their homes. Our vision is to make quality education affordable and accessible to everyone—not a privilege reserved for a few.
Our dream is not simply to establish another academy.
Our dream is that every child in Sindh—whether living in the remote villages of Kandhkot, the deserts of Thar, the coastal areas of Badin, or the mountains of Kohistan—should never be deprived of education simply because of poverty, distance, or lack of resources.
Education is not the privilege of the wealthy; it is the fundamental right of every human being.
We firmly believe that transforming the future requires more than large buildings. It requires bold dreams, sincere intentions, and consistent hard work.
If even one young person in Sindh is able to change their life because of this initiative, we will consider our mission a success.
May Allah Almighty bless us with sincerity, courage, and steadfastness. We humbly request your prayers and support as we continue this journey.
We truly believe that one day this dream will become a reality.
In Sha Allah.
