The journey may have come to an end, but its impact is only beginning.

The Awami Nojawan Sukkur Closing Ceremony celebrated the ideas, dedication, and leadership of our fellows. We were privileged to host Barrister Arsalan Shaikh, Mayor Sukkur, who explored the fellows' Impact Gallery Walk, witnessing the community initiatives implemented across Sukkur's UCs.

The ceremony continued with an engaging Youth–Mayor Dialogue, where fellows spoke openly about the realities of their communities, shared their experiences from the fellowship, and discussed how young people can play a stronger role in shaping the city's future. In his remarks, the Mayor appreciated the fellows' work and emphasized the importance of sustaining and expanding the fellowship so that many more young leaders can benefit from future cohorts.

As a token of appreciation, a Shield of Memory was presented to the Mayor, while Ajraks were presented to the respected UC Chairpersons and members of the Sukkur Municipal Corporation for their continued support.

One fellowship. Twenty young leaders. Countless conversations. A stronger vision for Sukkur.

As part of the Awami Nojawan Fellowship (ANF), fellows Usama and Alishba conducted a plantation drive at Saint Mary's Church and the Mustafae Road Green Belt. Despite the hot weather, the activity was successfully carried out in collaboration with Director Parks TMO Faiz Khoso and Project Lead Syed Asif Naqvi.

The team planted saplings to promote environmental sustainability, enhance green spaces, and contribute to a healthier community. This initiative reflected the spirit of civic responsibility, teamwork, and a shared commitment to protecting the environment for future generations.

Empowering Education Through Sustainable Energy

As part of the Awami Nojawan Fellowship (ANF), fellow Abdul Khalique successfully completed his Social Action Project with the installation of a solar power plant worth approximately PKR 600,000 at Government Primary Pir Muhammad Shah School, New Sukkur.

Implemented with the valuable support of UC-09 Chairman Azhar Ali Awan, the project provides a reliable and sustainable source of electricity for students and teachers, ensuring uninterrupted learning and a more conducive educational environment.

This initiative highlights the impact of youth-led action, community engagement, and local leadership in advancing sustainable development and improving public services.

Social Action Project | Old Sukkur

As part of the Awami Nojawan Fellowship (ANF), fellows Bilal Ahmed and Mehdi, in coordination with the Union Council Chairman, have successfully finalized a community infrastructure initiative to conclude their Social Action Project.

Recognizing the importance of Numaish Chowk, Old Sukkur as a major gateway connecting key routes, the fellows designed and developed a directional sign board to assist daily commuters and visitors in navigating the area more easily. The sign board has been completed and is installed

This practical intervention addresses a long-standing navigation challenge and contributes to improving civic accessibility and public convenience in the community.

Understanding Ground Realities Through Community Engagement

As part of the Awami Nojawan Fellowship (ANF), fellows Ume Aiman and Farzand conducted a field visit to better understand the realities and challenges faced by local communities.

Through direct interaction with residents and local representatives, the fellows identified several issues related to sanitation, infrastructure, and public service delivery that require attention. The visit highlighted the importance of engaging with communities beyond surface-level observations to gain a deeper understanding of local concerns.

A constructive discussion with ward-level representatives provided valuable insights into community needs and strengthened collaboration for future interventions. The engagement resulted in a positive commitment from local councillors to work together in addressing identified challenges and supporting upcoming project activities.

From Assessment to Action | Pano Aqil

As part of the Awami Nojawan Fellowship (ANF), fellows Fahad and Uzair conducted field visits across Pano Aqil to identify community challenges and support practical solutions through their Social Action Project (SAP).

The visits included inspections of water filtration plants, drainage disposals, manholes, and garbage collection points to assess cleanliness, maintenance, and service delivery. Based on observations and community feedback, solutions were initiated, including the installation of manhole covers, while maintenance work on the RO plant and street lights is currently in progress.

The inspections revealed both strengths and areas requiring improvement, highlighting the importance of effective sanitation services and regular municipal monitoring. With ongoing development efforts underway, the second phase of the SAP project is expected to be completed soon, contributing to a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment for the community.

Community Action & Civic Engagement | Pano Aqil

As part of the Awami Nojawan Fellowship (ANF), fellows Fahad and Uzair, in collaboration with the Municipal Committee Pano Aqil, conducted community visits across various streets, neighborhoods, and wards, engaging with residents from diverse communities and backgrounds.

A community dialogue and open forum were organized to discuss local issues and gather public feedback. As part of the initiative, a cleanliness and tree plantation drive was carried out, during which more than 50 saplings were planted and community members were encouraged to work alongside municipal officials for a cleaner and greener Pano Aqil.

Further efforts are underway to address key civic needs, including improvements to water plant facilities, street lighting, and the installation of manhole covers to enhance public safety and service delivery.

🌿 Cleanliness Drive & Awareness Campaign | Clock Tower & Station Road

As part of the Awami Nojawan Fellowship (ANF), fellows Urooj Fatima and Arif Soomro organized a cleanliness drive and awareness campaign in the UC areas of Clock Tower and Station Road with the support of Solid Waste Management staff.

Dustbins were distributed and installed at local carts and key public locations to encourage proper waste disposal and reduce littering. Awareness pamphlets were also shared with shopkeepers, residents, and commuters, highlighting the importance of cleanliness, hygiene, civic responsibility, and sustainable waste management practices.

The initiative aimed to promote community participation and strengthen collective efforts towards creating cleaner, healthier, and more environmentally responsible public spaces.

Development Progress Update | Barrage Colony

As part of the Awami Nojawan Fellowship (ANF), fellows Salman Adnan and Tabbasum continued their community engagement efforts in coordination with the UC Chairman of Barrage Colony.

A major milestone was achieved with the successful identification and covering of primary sewerage and drainage holes, improving safety and sanitation for residents. In addition, development work is actively underway across the streets of Barrage Colony, including flooring improvements and beautification initiatives aimed at enhancing the overall environment and quality of life for the community.

Together, these efforts reflect a shared commitment to safer, cleaner, and more livable neighborhoods.
