Centre for Youth Development & Engagement (CYDE) recently organized “Amn aur Rawadari: A Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue on Peace & Interfaith”, an impact-driven initiative focused on peacebuilding, interfaith harmony, social cohesion, and reducing intolerance among youth, religious stakeholders, CSOs, CBOs, and community representatives.

The dialogue included enriched participatory activities such as Peace Bingo, Let’s Burst Out Fear, Expectations vs. Fear, Online Hatred Awareness, News Verification, Myths & Mysteries, and other reflective group exercises. These activities strengthened trust, encouraged critical thinking, promoted responsible digital behavior, and created a safe space for meaningful dialogue across diverse communities.

The activity was organized in collaboration with Chanan Development Association, Amn Rang, Amn Bethak, and Amn Bargah. CYDE extends sincere gratitude to all partners, stakeholders, participants, and community members for contributing to this meaningful step toward peace, inclusion, and interfaith understanding.

Differences of faith are not walls — they are windows through which we see the full depth of what it means to be human

In a world too often defined by division, the Centre for Youth Development & Engagement (CYDE), in collaboration with Chanan Development Association, Amn Rang, and Amn Bethak, convened a landmark interfaith dialogue that proved powerfully and beautifully that harmony is not merely an ideal but a lived possibility.

Held at the Royal Taj Serene Hotel, Military Road, Sukkur, the gathering brought together religious scholars, youth leaders, civil society representatives, and community stakeholders from four distinct faith traditions: Hinduism, Christianity, and both Shia and Sunni schools of Islamic thought. Under one roof, voices that are too rarely heard in conversation with one another spoke, listened, and found common ground.
The dialogue was not simply an event it was an act of courage.

In a region where religious identity is often treated as a line of separation, these stakeholders chose instead to treat it as a bridge. Participants shared the values that unite them across traditions: the dignity of every human life, the pursuit of justice, the sanctity of peace, and the shared responsibility we hold toward one another as members of one society.

For the young people present, the impact was perhaps most profound. They witnessed, firsthand, that religious difference need not mean religious distance. That faith, in all its diversity, can be a source of solidarity rather than suspicion. That the future they want to build one of tolerance, mutual respect, and collective flourishing is already possible when courageous people choose to sit together.

CYDE and its partners organised this dialogue with a clear conviction: lasting peace in Sindh and across Pakistan cannot be decreed from above. It must be cultivated from within communities, nurtured through honest conversation, and carried forward by young people who refuse to inherit division.

This gathering was one such act of cultivation. And its seeds, planted in the hearts of everyone present that day, will grow.

At a Local School in Newpind, Sukkur, an awareness session on climate change and tree plantation was conducted with students, focusing on the growing impact of rising temperatures on daily life.

In Sukkur’s extreme heat conditions, climate change is increasingly affecting learning environments, health, and the overall well-being of students especially girls, who face added vulnerabilities in accessing safe and comfortable spaces. The session highlighted how climate and gender intersect, making climate awareness essential at the community level.

The activity was conducted under the leadership of Principal Ms. Aftab Kousar, who envisions and actively promotes female leadership within educational and community spaces. It was led by Mr. Abdul Waheed Narejo, with plantation coordination by Muhammad Arif Soomro and outreach support by Sufyan Ali Abbasi.

The role of Climate Muhafiz under the Centre for Youth Development & Engagement (CYDE) was central in mobilizing awareness and encouraging practical climate action. Through youth-led engagement, Climate Muhafiz are strengthening local resilience by promoting environmental responsibility at the grassroots level.

Participants were also introduced to heat-resilient trees such as Neem and other locally suitable species that help reduce heat impact, improve shade, and support a healthier environment. This initiative reflects a growing commitment to local climate action led by young people especially girls turning awareness into meaningful community change.

A period-friendly world needs more than pads. It needs Menstrual Education and safe toilets with soap and running water.

This Menstrual Hygiene Day, we are looking beyond product distribution. True menstrual equity means giving everyone the knowledge to shatter cultural taboos and the dignified WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) infrastructure they need to manage their periods safely and privately.

At the Centre for Youth Development & Engagement (CYDE), we believe that menstrual health is a fundamental right, not a luxury. From building climate-resilient sanitation facilities to leading youth advocacy that breaks generations of silence, we are committed to creating a world where no one is held back by a natural biological process.

Let’s dismantle the stigma, build better facilities, and empower the next generation. 🔴❤️

The Centre for Youth Development and Engagement (CYDE) continues its dedicated advocacy for youth-led environmental resilience and community preparedness by participating in a high-level climate seminar in Sukkur. Representing the organization, a senior CYDE delegation led by Executive Director Mr. Ali Aqsam alongside team members Mubarak Ali and Mazharudin Narejo, actively engaged in the workshop titled "Climate Action and Our Responsibility," which was organized by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI). Held at a local venue, the event served as a critical forum that brought together a diverse and influential coalition of civil society leaders, political and social activists, media professionals, legal experts, and youth representatives, all converging to address the escalating ecological crises and severe climate vulnerabilities impacting the region.

During the sessions, expert speakers including workshop coordinator Shahjahan Channa, researcher Intisham-ul-Haq, and project coordinator Umer delivered stark briefings on Pakistan’s status as one of the world's most climate-vulnerable nations, emphasizing the compounding socio-economic devastation left by the historic 2022 floods and the destructive rains of 2025. The discussions highlighted how erratic monsoon cycles, unexpected torrential rain, and severe heatwaves have caused mass displacement, agricultural ruin, and severe livelihood losses that disproportionately impact vulnerable rural communities, small landowners, laborers, and women. In response to these challenges, the CYDE delegation emphasized that top-down government policies must be matched by grassroots ex*****on, reiterating the organization's commitment to partnering with institutions like SDPI to equip, train, and empower local youth to lead community-based climate mitigation, early warning systems, and emergency response efforts.

We are incredibly proud of Abdul Waheed Narejo, the lead behind Khudkafeel, who has worked alongside Charity Scouts, Climate Muhafiz, The Peace Project, Harmony Horizons, and more.

He recently initiated a Study Circle & Open Discussion at Peoples School, Sukkur under Ziauddin University, bringing together youth aged 15–20 around the joy of reading. He shared the importance of reading, techniques like reading between the lines, types of reading, and led hands-on exercises for the students.

What started as one session is now a weekly commitment because a reading habit, built consistently, changes everything.
We at Centre for Youth Development & Engagement (CYDE) are super proud to share this with you. 💛

At CYDE, we believe that lasting change is built at the grassroot level — and Awais Ahmed Kehar from Tourband, Shikarpur is a living testament to that belief.

A Class XII student and Youth Representative of the Youth of Tourband, Awais recently organised a community book-talk highlighting Sindhi Literature and its role in shaping the attitudes and mindsets of young readers. The session brought together the children and youth of his village in a meaningful dialogue around early reading, reflection, and growth.
What makes Awais's work remarkable is not just what he does — but how he does it. With limited resources and unwavering commitment, he continues to show up for his community through writing, dialogue, and active engagement. He is the kind of young leader that CYDE exists to support.

CYDE is proud to collaborate with grassroot collectives like the Youth of Tourband walking alongside emerging leaders, building their capacity, and strengthening their voice so that communities like Tourband can own their development from within.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to RISE Initiative and Human Fellowship for their generous contribution of books that made this session possible. Your support reaches far beyond a gift, it ignites a culture of reading where it matters most.

This is what community-led leadership looks like. And we are honoured to be part of it.

The Centre for Youth Development & Engagement (CYDE) proudly collaborated with ThynkShelf, an initiative founded by students of Sukkur IBA University, to foster a culture of reading, open discussion, and intellectual growth among the youth of Sukkur and surrounding areas.

Through CYDE's partnership with the RISE Initiative, .iba received valuable book contributions, enabling the launch of its first Study Circle. The inaugural open discussion session, held on May 15, focused on Plato's Allegory of the Cave, bringing together young minds for a thought-provoking exchange of ideas. Active participants were gifted books, further encouraging reading and reflection.

This collaboration exemplifies CYDE’s mission to empower youth through knowledge, dialogue, and engagement, and marks a meaningful step toward building a stronger culture of learning and critical thinking in the region.
