🕊️ Amn Bethak Reaches Tharparkar: Planting Seeds of Peace in Kounral

Art is a universal language, but to speak it, you need the right tools. We are incredibly grateful to Discovering New Artists (DNA) for providing the art materials that brought our recent session at GBLSS Kounral to life!

Under the Amn Bethak initiative, facilitator Danish Kumar (Sukkur IBA University) led 40 students through a journey of mindfulness, storytelling, and creative expression.

🌟 The Impact of Your Support:
From Canvas to Community: With the materials provided by DNA, students were able to translate their thoughts on peace and empathy into vibrant visual stories.

Hands-on Healing: Engaging with art serves as a form of meditation, helping these young learners in Tharparkar manage emotions and find calm.

Building Bridges: These creative activities foster a deeper sense of connection and understanding among students from diverse backgrounds.

A huge thank you to the school administration, the enthusiastic students, and especially DNA for empowering these young artists to envision a more peaceful world.

🕊️ Building the Future: "Peaceful Classrooms" at Govt College of Education, Sukkur
We recently had the privilege of conducting a transformative session titled “Peaceful Classroom in a Diverse Culture” for the pre-service teachers at the Government College of Education, Sukkur.

The goal? To move beyond theory and equip the next generation of educators with the heart and the head for inclusive teaching.

🧠 Why These Theories?
We didn’t just pick these names from a syllabus; we chose them because they provide the "Why" behind a peaceful classroom:

Vygotsky’s Sociocultural Theory: We used this to show that learning is a social process. In a diverse culture, we must understand a student's background to bridge the gap between what they know and what they can achieve.

Bandura’s Social Learning Theory: This highlights the power of the teacher as a model. If we want peaceful students, we must model empathy, patience, and conflict resolution in every interaction.

Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences: We chose this to celebrate individual dignity. By recognizing that "intelligence" looks different in every culture, we ensure no student feels "less than" because they learn differently.

✨ Practical Impact
Through group discussions and our Peace Pledge Wall, these future teachers didn't just listen—they committed. They practiced turning potential conflicts into "teachable moments" and designed lessons that honor the linguistic and social diversity of our province.

Building a culture of peace starts in the classroom! 🕊️✨

We recently had an incredible experience at Govt N Modern High School Sukkur where the Amn Bethak team led a vibrant session on peace, conflict resolution, and religious pluralism.

What made this day truly special was the room itself—filled with students from diverse religious, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds, all coming together to explore what unites us.

The Power of Storytelling & Dialogue
Our session was designed to be interactive and heart-led:

The Unity Tree: Led by Maham Sheikh, students wrote their shared values and common beliefs on "leaves," decorating our tree with the powerful realization that our roots are more similar than we think. 🌳

Open Discussion: Mansoor Ahmed facilitated a deep dive into how we can navigate differences with respect.

Storytelling: Dua Batool captivated the students with stories that celebrate harmony and empathy.

Role-Play: I led a hands-on activity where students stepped into each other's shoes to practice real-world conflict resolution.

The Outcome
The energy was shift-inducing. We watched as students moved from shyness to active participation, realizing that their diverse backgrounds are a source of strength, not division. Seeing them identify "Kindness," "Respect," and "Peace" as shared leaves on the Unity Tree was a testament to the potential of our youth.

We are also deeply grateful to Mr. Khan Muhammad Bugti, Headmaster of Govt Modern School Sukkur, for his warm welcome and for appreciating our efforts to bring these vital conversations to his students. His encouragement reinforces our mission to spread the message of pluralism across every community.

Amn Bethak, in collaboration with Peace And Education Foundation successfully organized a Social Action Project titled “Peaceful Classrooms: A One-Day Teachers’ Workshop on Interfaith Harmony, Pluralism, and Intercultural Awareness.”

The workshop brought together over 40 pre-service teachers who actively engaged in various interactive sessions facilitated by Miss Sumaira Zia. The workshop aimed to equip future educators with the skills and mindset needed to foster inclusive and peaceful learning environments.

Participants also had the opportunity to gain insights from renowned educationist Dr. Al-Karim Datoo, whose talk highlighted the role of educators in promoting coexistence and pluralism. The event concluded with closing remarks and an insightful discussion led by Dr. Zafarullah Sahito, Head of the Department of Education, who emphasized the importance of peacebuilding in educational spaces.

Certificates were distributed to acknowledge the active participation and commitment of the attendees. This initiative marks another step forward in preparing educators to lead with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a strong sense of social responsibility.
The activity is supported by Peace And Education Foundation funded by European Union in Pakistan in collaboration with UNODC - United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime UNODC Pakistan, and NACTA
