Awareness Session on Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse and Trafficking in Persons
The Child Protection Officer (CPO), Sukkur, conducted a community awareness session in Village Haji Ali Nawaz Chachar, Taluka Pano Aqil, focusing on the increasing risks of child sexual abuse and trafficking in persons (TIP).
The session was organized in collaboration with the Taluka Officer, Pano Aqil, whose participation strengthened coordination with the local administration. The awareness activity was considered particularly important as the village is located near the Kacha area of the district, where communities are more vulnerable to exploitation and protection-related risks.
During the session, community members were sensitized about the prevention of child sexual abuse, the indicators and dangers of human trafficking, reporting mechanisms, and the importance of timely intervention to safeguard children and other vulnerable individuals.
The representatives from SAHIL and PHRO also participated as focal persons. We highlighted our respective roles in providing legal assistance, psychosocial support, and referral services for victims and survivors, while encouraging the community to report cases promptly and cooperate with relevant authorities.
The session concluded with an interactive discussion, during which participants reaffirmed their commitment to protecting children, promoting community vigilance, and strengthening collaboration with the Child Protection Unit and partner organizations to ensure a safer environment for all.
